My 2021 had a water leak at the third brake light. I brought it in to Toyota just as my bumper to bumper was expiring. They ordered a new light and replaced the entire assembly. We had big rain recently and the thing still leaks! When I was inspecting it more closely, I notice the tech used what looks like a urethane sealer along the top edge. It wasn't done overly well, probably because he figured not too many people look there (I do when I wax the roof).

Obviously, I will call the dealer back to complain to get it fixed, but I am super annoyed with this issue. It is very inconvenient for me to get my truck to the dealer and leave it with them. Why would the new light still leak, especially with the sealer added? Toyota brought this design out in 2007, I shouldn't have a water leak on a 2021! I don't think it's a case of the dealer lying and not replacing the light, just sealing it, because it does look like they dropped my head liner (the tech left some grease marks from his hands that I have to clean).

Any thoughts on this? Anyone else experience chronic water leaks at the rear brake light?

    Too many mods to come

I replaced mine with an aftermarket light and added a ton of additional rtv sealant to be sure this doesn’t happen. Especially in the pnw. Definitely take it back but if it happens again I’d do it myself and seal it

Thanks for the replies. I took the truck back just before Christmas and they said the screws needed to be tightened and they also snugged the shark fin antenna too. So far, no leaks with the rain we've had. The dealership also cleaned my headliner properly this time.
