    Hello,

doing a suspension overhaul and decided to replace the LCA. I’ve seen a few videos and read instructions but I’m hoping to remove the control arms without disconnecting the steering rack. I saw that I have to use a special tool to remove the cam sleeve to do so. Is that true? I a, replacing with SPC bolts anyways so should I just take a hackzall to cut the bolts and call it a day? Would the new spc bolts come in contact with the rack?

I just did my LCA on my ‘15. I imagine the process is pretty similar to your ‘10. I didn’t have to disconnect any steering rack components or tie rod. Process was loosen the two bolts and castle nut at the LCA knuckle, mark alignment cam position and loosen bolts. Remove lower shock bolt. Remove LCA knuckle bolts. I tried using my ball separator to take the knuckle off but was unsuccessful due to the ball joint stem being jammed/gouged inside the knuckle. Took the two LCA cam bolts out and was able to remove the LCA assembly with ball joint and knuckle intact. I used a wooden support and hammered on the knuckle to remove it.
I think your year has issues with the two upper bushing and sleeves being frozen to the mounting area. You may have to cut/saw it loose.

Yes, I have read many posts where the came bolts were seized to the mounting area. That is what I'm afraid of but we shall see.

Good to know I dont have to disconnect steering rack. I guess that is for the sequoia or a different model
