I ask since Im trying to make the most of the labor involved w/ r&r of LBJs. I have a good indy shop and mechanic, so while the 'meter' is running- what else would be worth replacing, even if entails another couple hours?
As i mentioned at end of a 2yr old post,
    [https://www.tundras.com/threads/advice-on-front-suspension-oem-rebuild.109185/]
the new 2me, 06 AC V8 2WD, steers & stops on pavement as well as a non-abused, 170k mile FGT can be for its 18yrs. But somethings are just old, like me, and altho perform well now,...it wont be long til they don't.
So, I'll ask the shop and although theyre good at what they do, it would be good to know essentials ahead of time...just in case theyre in 'up-sell' mode.
    Thanks for the advice/read.

Only other stuff right in the vicinity (and forgive me if the 2WD is missing some of these, I only know 4x4s) are the sway bar bushings, tie rod ends (or tie rods themselves), and I guess shocks/coils.

The cam bolts on the lower control arms can get frozen making alignments nearly impossible. Especially true if you live anywhere except the southwest. If you are getting struts, you might consider having the cam bolts replaced $$ allowing.

    MT & Badwrench- thanks.

Cam bolts of LCAs, like that. Good eye there.
Shocks and coils could push my budget, but if not, is toy OEM worth cost or just as well or better to go aftermarket for same parts cost? [i did have bilsteins x 4 on my 01 Taco- great ride improvement]
Swaybar bushings appear relatively inexpensive, but is r&r minor timewise?

Also, steering rod replacements: Toy OEM only? ..and "could" replacement extend usable life to the 18yr old R&P ?
BTW, as a non-mechanic: tie rod boots main function to keep road debris from making way into R&P?

    thx for the guidance.

im guessing tie rods are completely external to the r&p assembly, so no big difference w/new vs old [unless bent or unable to adjust] ?
As for leaks, O-rings and seals replacement require rack removal?
BTW: Whats life expectancy of entire RnP before they they require rebuilt or new?
