My 4x4 2006 Tundra has a larger positive terminal. The negative one is smaller. These are the originals. If I replace the positive terminal for a smaller one, will it have any impact on my systems? FYI, I'm a 70-year old gal trying to get my sweet Tundra running. TY

Batteries have ‘always’ had different sized terminals, and the positive is bigger. If the positive side was overtightened & stretched, it can usually be bent a bit to fit better. Kinda like how some electric plugs one side is bigger so you dont plug it in upside down.

The question that needs to be asked is; why are you replacing the positive terminal? What are the symptoms of your truck not running? It might be a good idea to post some pictures of what you're trying to acheive.

Something tells me someone pryor to you changed the terminals. If your positive terminal does not look similar in style to below pic, it’s not original. As requested, picture of your battery setup would help.

she’s 70. Boy scouts are about to start showing up for honey-do’s, and you dont think they’ll install the battery wrong? Thats why you teach kids to put the ground on first. If it doesnt fit, youre doing it wrong.

my kepworth chynisse lithium battery also has its lugs staggered, and they’re machined copper.

It really depends on what she has connected to the positive side. Which is why we're asking for pictures.

My answer still stands...the actual terminal swap doesn't hurt anything. What an idiot does after is a different story.

How would a smaller diameter terminal have any impact on the electrical system? I agree that pictures would help figure out what's going on. I suspect a worn battery post and its no longer tightening...which a post terminal shim would likely fix.

What other size can we talk about? 1st reply even talks about different sized terminals . She says herself that they're different sizes....we all know the post diameter might be different

You didn't answer my question either.

If she got a new battery that has a smaller positive post, going with a smaller terminal wont hurt a thing.

And yet another worthless thread started by the one thread wonders. I'm not sure of the purpose, but it sure gets old.
