KYB GR-2 rear shock 2002 Tundra not available any more?

Guys,

I want a soft ride for my city life in San Diego for my 2002 extra cab Tundra, not off roading or subject to snow here. Ordered KYB excel GR-2 shocks for the front but the back shocks aren’t available? I did buy a set of part# 349054 but they are only listed to fit 2007 up Tundras. Can’t even find out the correct KYB part number I need to match the front set. They aren’t listed or available anywhere it seems, what should I do? Just buy from Toyota stock replacement rear shocks? Will the wrong part # work? Has anybody had this problem? In a pickle

Thanks but I don’t want gas-adjust version they are too stiff for my needs, besides I want to match the front set of Excel GR-2 s. I will see if the rear ones I ordered for the 2007 Tundras will fit/work on my 2002

If you want a floaty Cadillac ride, Monroe may be the correct option for you. People bitch about them being soft and floaty.

But, I mean, we're driving solid-axle vehicles here, at least in the rear. You'll never get truly soft ride without rear independent suspension.

Thanks for the info but I prefer European (Koni, Bilstien) or Asian (KYB, Tokiko) for shocks/struts in a Japanese vehicle

Your truck was made in Indiana. FYI. If I were you and in your situation, I would go with the Sachs from RA. They're a German brand if I'm not mistaken. Truthfully, you're probably not going to find a true Euro or Asian suspension component. Most are made in Mexico, US, and Canada. Stay away from the Chineseium and you'll be fine. In other words, order from a reputable seller like RA. Stay away from scAmazon.

 

Bilstein 4600 is probably going to be your best bet, then... I mean, KYB was OEM for the non-TRD trucks like my Limited, but ...

I found a complete GR-2 kit that shows rear shocks as part# 345066 but trying to buy that number from other vendor says they’re not compatible with my Tundra, not sure who to believe

My advice is always, "Fuck what vendors tell you, go straight to the source!"

If I had a dollar for every time a suspension vendor has misinformed someone about the suspension on these trucks, for every time we've had to console someone who got the wrong lift, bought the wrong parts, I'd retire early.

I like my 4600's for daily duty.

Definitely better than my 160k+ stock kyb's, that were a bit boat like.

I did go to their site, no excel GR-2 parts listed for my truck. Will match up the new ones coming in and return them if they don’t fit then buy a set of 345066’s

The 349010 for the 2nd gen Taco is a good bet.
