Ok I'm a dummy... I have a 01 sequoia I recently got from a buddy and found out it had a nest under the intake and chewed the bank 1 knock sensor wire in half... I bought a new plug with a 6' wire to splice into it and figured I was done..after getting everything back together I still get the code right away...

Now my question is. When I cut the oem wire I noticed it had a mesh shield around the main insulated wire..
The new plug and wire didn't have that just a thin insulated wire..I cut the mesh back to flush against the oem rubber and just connected the main wire together.... now I'm realizing that must have been a ground and why it's not properly working.....
So how do I fix this???
    Any help would be amazing.

As someone who has done this not once but twice, it is more than likely you got attacked again by the little fuckers. Only a week later at it again. Second time around I wrapped the entire harness with metal screen and dumped a 5 pound bag of rodent repellant on intake. I was concerned about odors emanating as the engine got hot, never an issue. I also closed off the holes underneath the windhield wiper cowling, two holes left side is a monster and the right side is tiny. Get yourself some mettal screen and butyl rubber as I sure as hell wasn't about to run sheet metal screws in a 50K truck. Bags of ghost pepper flakes and mothballs are also ineffective as deterrants as I found most of the bags used as nesting material. Have fun...

    Imma keep it stock
You can’t splice it. You’ll need the entire harness. Voltage is too delicate to support a splice.

If I need a whole new engine harness I found a few on ebay but they are all for 2wd. Mines a 4wd will they still interchange?

Does this # on tag mean I need the exact one?
