    Sup Fellas,

Going to buy some used front and rear kings 2.5 with resi no clickers. The seller put 40k miles on them and no signs of leaks. At what point should I take them in for a rebuild? Can I add clickers to these? What’s a re valve be a better option over a rebuild?

Are you mainly daily driving with the truck? Mostly pavement? Or are you gonna be off roading it constantly?

With that mileage they should be serviced.

What’s the valving in the shocks now?

-Rebuild intervals vary depending on use. Buying them used with 40k miles, definitely have them rebuilt and checked out (something we are happy to do if you would like)
-We typically try and steer people away from buying used, unless you are getting a killer deal. Often times a simple rebuild turns into a very expensive rebuild. However, with lead times these days... may not be that bad of an idea depending on price.
-You can add compression adjusters, however its pricey. $3-400/each.
-Revalve is not much more $ along with rebuild if you go through us.

Shoot me a PM if you have specific questions, happy to help!

The original owner didn’t know either?

Do you plan on getting a N2 charge kit as well? Need to check the pressure every few months. I have had so many people complain about their shock performance and then when asked:

    -what’s the valving?
-when is the last time serviced?
    -what’s the nitrogen pressure?

    Then I get this…

I wouldn't expect anyone to know the valving in their shocks. Safe to say it has the standard off the shelf valving, unless there are some super awesome black, red and white stickers wrapped around the reservoirs

Your customers don’t ask for future tuning?

Future tuning? Like if they need to get the shocks revalved they know what valving is inside of them? No, we do not provide that info to customers. Wont mean much to most and gets very complicated. We do offer a free revalve at any time if its needed, even if 5 years later with added weight/mods etc... however its hardly ever is needed for OEM applications.

Interesting. I like how you do one free tune after the sale.

For OEM applications I would 100% agree.

I was blowing though my rear shock travel and had an idea where I wanted to go, but then King gave their recommendation and I went that route.

    :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I ended up taking them to DC shocks in San dimas after picking them up because they were on my way back home. Had them check them out visually and they said they looked good, Rear shaft rods had 2 small pits on each but all the way at the bottom were the shock doesn’t compress down to. They said I can go another 20k from the looks of it before a rebuild and when I do the rebuild to change out the shaft in the rear. I got them for $1200 so I can’t complain. The guy I bought them from put 30k miles on them mainly highway miles.

Sounds like you came up on a good deal if DC said you don't need a rebuild anytime soon. Glad they went someone on the forum!

I don't know who you're hanging out with, 99% of the people I know have no idea what valving are in their shocks. Shit I have no idea what's in most of my shocks unless I personally tore them down. Fox's in the wife's 4runner? No idea. Kings on the tundra? No idea. Kings on the canned ham? No idea. Unless a person revalves the shock themselves, it's kind of a useless value to know. Someone rebuilding the shock is gonna check how it's setup before slapping new shims in anyways.

Personally if I had the money now I would get them rebuilt and revalved to what I plan on using the truck for. That way you put them on the truck once and not take off in 20k and then put on again.

I'm thinking of doing mine but the cost of the n2 tanks and gear is looking rough. Plus noone really works on ADS around here.

I'm planing on revalveing them. Mine is a daily driver so down time makes it hard.

What tank you get? Looking at powertank.
