Who has or has owned a Kel Tec Sub2k? I want to add something else to my safe To run off this massive pile of high cap Glock mags I have accumulated. Seems like a nice simple little plinker and backpack/truck gun. I have an AR9 already to kit out if I ever want to. With this I would probably just stay simple and do an optic and *maybe* a really small light. Nothing else. Mostly a plinker until/unless the need arose to lug it around with me.

S&W's brand new PCC seems to be the new hotness from what the dealers tell me when they try to nudge me towards one. But I want to add something that runs off magazines I already own a lot of and which could be practical to rotate into concealable SD duty if things got crazy again.

    Ive owned 3

They work...have to buy a special mount to run an optic and keep folding ability

Ruger makes a 9mm take down rifle that can run glock mags also

Isn't the Midwest Industries mount closer to $100? The M'Carbo stuff is ok, but I think it's a little overpriced for what it is. But, then again, how much can you really do with the stock trigger parts on a Sub2k? I think you are easily over $100 in parts from MCarbo for a trigger face, springs, aluminum trigger latch, and trigger bar. Once you get it apart, you see what makes it so hard to improve the trigger. Does MCarbo improve it? Yup. Does it make it good? Mehh... Lighter than mil-spec AR trigger, but still kinds spongy, even with the trigger over travel screw cranked.

However, I think the Sub2k is fun little plinker. A little crude feeling, but for the money it isn't bad. Smaller, lighter, more compact platform than and AR9 but with with the obvious drawbacks such as optics mounting and the plasticy toy feeling imparted by its design. But still fun. I think they extended their $100 rebate, so shopping around should land you under $300 plus transfer after rebate.

I have looked at the Ruger in the past but it's hard to resist the Keltec for 2-300 less. My local sportsmans warehouse seems to be one of the few places that has both. Probably have to get up there soon and see how the Keltec's ergonomics fit me.

Doesn't need to be fancy, just needs to fit me. Range gun that can double as emergency backpack gun if the time ever comes. Looking at both mounts I'd likely pay for the Mcarbo for simpler deployment.

With my G19, 26 and AR9 I've just accumulated so many Glock range mags of various sizes it seems like a waste not to add 1-2 more things that run them. Meanwhile most shops aren't stocking the Keltec anymore and want to push the new S&W on me. Which is tempting because I like the side fold mechanism. But then I'd need to spend at least a couple hundred bucks More on magazines to have the number I normally like to have loaded and ready when I take something out to shoot plus unopened reserves.

I'd probably do the new S&W in a heartbeat if I hadn't hoarded so many Glock magazines already.

And here she is, ready to have the bolt oiled and go for a test drive. Performance services flip down rear sight, cheapie Amazon optic I use as a place holder on new rifles, American defense/vortex picatinny riser qd mount for a good absolute cowitness. I don't feel like the trigger needs immediate attention. It's not as had as I've heard described. people make it sound like lifting a boat anchor with the finger. It ain't great but I don't feel that at all.

Main thing I'm gonna wanna do is put on a Romeo 5 or Bushnell TRS 26, maybe a buffer tube cover and a stock pad. That comes after I get a couple hundred rounds in, whenever I find time for that. Also noticed some of the nuts holding the upper receiver shell and handguard together weren't quite as tight as others so I pulled several out to loctite and re tighten.

It only takes a few seconds to move the mount from the bottom to the top rail. Staying away from afg's, hand stops or anything else bulky. Just getting a streamlight for underneath.

Hoping to load up a bunch of fun sticks and get her out Friday.

@bmf4069 didnt you have one before the boating accident? I want one, but i've gotta find a deal because i'll have to start buying 9mm.

I used a romeo & juliet on my buddies AR & fell in love. Had to use the zoom to dial my cheap red dot in.

Yes sir, I have......had one in 9mm. Boating accident. Got 2 33 rnd glock mags to go with it. It's fun to shoot, just a little awkward to aim.

Bolt tube cover, stock pad, PA SLX on qd mount. 450-ish rounds Malfunction free. CVLife cheapie optic goes back on the shelf until the next rifle comes home. Really amazing how well that little Chinese trinket held up after being on a few guns considering I've had recoil loosen up the insides on a TRS25 and Pa RGB2 enough for the dot to flicker with recoil since I got it.

zeroed at 75 surprisingly easy. I actually meant to do 50 but misread where the lines were on my new outdoor range and went to the 75 by mistake when dialing in a few new optics. It Kept them in a 2x3 bull's eye on a man sized target pretty easy at that distance and the ballistic calculator says its less than 2" off either way out to 75 so just gonna leave it. I was honestly very surprised to find out I was going out to 75 when we called a cease fire and I was walking out with a guy who was getting in the ballpark for a 100 yd sight in to pull down targets.

I figured his to be a decent shooter out to 50 tops.

When I was a traveling salesman, I looked into a small carbine for the trunk. I have to say watching the classic road terror movie "Duel" had a lot to do with this....anyway.....

A friend had bought a Sub 2000 and I borrowed it to test it out. I found it be a bit clunky and did not cycle. That lack of reliability was probably due to my friend's dislike for cleaning and maintaining his arms.

I ended up taking along my Ruger PC 9 I had bought some years prior.

I think Ruger's new "takedown" PC 9 can be used with Glock mags. I think I'd go that route.

*What great adventures were had with my trunk gun? Well I spilled a ton of concentrated car wash soap on the sling......

Look, if I still had that gun, I would say something like I shot about 1000 rounds of steel 9mm through it and it worked like a champ. If yours didn't cycle, you may have had ammo to small to cycle. I've never had a feed issue with mine.

Probably due to take it out again soon. Close to 1k rounds trouble free after last trip which has been a few months. Range master at the public range I had to use last time snorted when I told him what I was shooting like I was a cheapskate newbie who thought he git a premium weapon for 380 bucks. Told me good luck, he'd never seen one get through a trip without malfunctions. Said he fully expected to see malfunctions. I then rattled off 250 rnds trouble free just like the previous few trips.

I'm not stupid, I know it's not a Daniel Defense or anything. I enjoy shooting it, it goes bang every time and it's another weapon to run off a big common magazine pile. Still very satisfied, screw the haters.

Glad you like your weapon man. It's an innovative design and came out during the misnamed "Assault Weapons Ban" when folding stocks were not allowed, not new production anyway.

I had one in .40 with Glock mags. It was fun, not very accurate at any distance, but fun and had a cool factor to it for design. Sold it and bought a ruger pc carbine in .40 that also used Glock mags. Way more accurate but picky about ammo. Doesn’t like hollow points.

i have one of the original Ruger PC 9's. Not super original as those all said "Police Carbine" on the side, not "PC."

I wish I had gotten one with the rear peep sight.

It’s great for backpacking/hiking. Sixteen inches of barrel give it a bit more velocity and easy to pew. I keep mine pretty basic so it doesn’t snag on a bunch of stuff, that is… before it fell in the lake.
