I recently purchased a 17 Platinum. Truck is in amazing condition accept for this lovely engineering job that was done on the K&N. Can someone please tell me what is missing and where to get the part?

Welcome to the forum. My first suggestion is to drop that K&N setup and go back OEM.

One of 2 things is wrong. It is either the MAF sensor is wrong or that is the wrong K&N kit. The sensor is supposed to align and mount where the 2 brass screw inserts are.

I believe this will give you the part numbers that you need, but not sure if they will sell you them separately. I would be very wary of running your truck that way long term. The MAF's can get pretty sensitive and cause some issues.

Might be a missing mount plate.

Wrong intake tube for the truck. They bought a random intake and made it work.

    I called K&N. It was $7 adaptor that is missing. adaptor + screws + shipping = $13
Thank you all for your input.

@milazzo Fun fact: Our trucks, by design, actually draw in air from the passenger side fender well. This design allows for air, not heated by the engine bay, to be brought into the manifold and helps to eliminate foreign object intrusion such as leaves and debris. By running a K&N design, you are inhibiting the power of the engine by drawing in air that is heated. If you get the chance, I recommend picking up a factory air box and tube, replacing that K&N setup.

K&N, from a marketing standpoint, has people brain washed into thinking you gain power by just slapping an open cone filter on a motor.

I agree.. It does nothing but make the engine compartment a little louder. I would ditch it but a quick "real" fix is what I need for now.

I bet there is a sucker out there who would trade their OEM and maybe pay some cash for your set up;)

Keep an eye on the forum marketplace and your local sales. I see stock intakes from time to time. Place a WTB in the marketplace and someone may have one lying around.

Agreed! There has been a few here that we told them not to waste their money and they did it anyway and then said "I don't notice a difference".

X3 on switching to stock air box. I run the open AFE intake on my Tacoma but going to go back to my stock air box(glad I saved mine after so many years). Even with a heat shield that's provided by these companies it still sucks in hot air which is not ideal. I've heard them referred to as "hot air intakes"
