Hello, new member here so excuse me if I’m not sure how all this works just yet, but do have a few questions if anyone could help out or point me in the right direction.

Just bought a 2018 Tundra SR5 TRD Off-Road recently. It already had what “looks” to be the Procomp stage 1 7” lift installed. ( I assume stage one because of the spacers on top in the front) Also has some Procomp 20”wheels with Procomp 37” tires.

After reading on here for a couple months about different mods, I’m starting to get the itch to change a few things up and make it my own.

In no particular order some of my thoughts below:

    1. What I’m looking at doing is completely change out the lift kit (if I’m able to do that) and was looking at the BDS 4.5 coilover. Would be getting everything available with that kit including traction bars in the next few months. (looking to SC in the near future as well) . One question I had about swapping lifts is that I currently still have my factory UCAs with the current set up. Would it benefit me now to change my UCAs now or wait until I get my new lift. If so which brand, I’ve read everything from cam burgs, spc, total chaos and a few others.

    2. Also with dropping in lift size from Procomp 7” to the BDS 4.5, I was also going to drop down to 35s as well. I’m dropping in both to try and fit in my garage and keep out of the elements here in MS.

    3. It is my daily driver and I never tow anything as of right now. Possibly in the future I will have a bass boat but that would be about the most towing I would ever do.

    4. I have also read how much happier our trucks are with the Regearing and will definitely be looking to Regear with the 5.29s after everything I’ve read on here. But I was hoping with dropping in tire size I could hold off a little longer before the Regear.

    5. Like I said before it is my daily driver so I’m mostly on the highway, but will go off-road when I get the time. Nothing too serious just some muddy spots here and there, nothing to consider “serious” off-road.

Sorry for the long post but hopefully some insight and suggestions would be welcome as I will continue to read as much as I can on here as well,

    Thanks in advance!

Here are a few pics of the truck:

Welcome from TX and welcome to the MGM Crüe!

Unless you have alignment issues right now, I don't see a point in upgrading UCAs until you put the new lift on.

As for re-gearing, I'd personally opt for 5.29s as that leaves you room to up your tires back to 37s should you want and the price point is no different from 4.88s.

    Thanks everyone.

@texasrho83 it seems as though the out edge of my tires are wearing just a little faster then the inside as of right now. It does drive straight down the road and doesn’t pull to either side as of right now. Just didn’t know if I would benefit from goin ahead and doin that now, but makes since to do it when I replace the lift and everything together.

But for sure I’m leaning towards the 5.29s after everything I’ve been reading on here.

    Thanks for the reply.

Welcome aboard sir! The Procomp 7” lift is what’s called a cradle or drop bracket lift. Some require permanent modifications to the frame and suspension mounting points. If the original mounting points are still intact, and nothing has been cut away, you may be able to revert to stock, or a non-bracket lift at great cost. It’s the cutting required for these kits that may make this expensive or a no go.

@KNABORES I believe mine has been cut, I’ll have to take some pics once this storm passes tomorrow. But I believe I do have the procomp that had the crossmember cut for the drop bracket. I know once it’s been cut that you’re for the most part stuck with that unless you’re willing to drop serious money. That’s why I was mentioning just going with the BDS 4.5 lift with it being a drop bracket as well. Or would this not work with it being 2 different brands??

Take some pics of the front suspension when you get a chance and share them here. May shed some light on your options

If you don't have to replace tires right away and you aren't fighting the wheel driving down the road, I'd say leave it be. Then again, it isn't hard to replace uppers yourself, just be sure to get it aligned afterwards.

@KNABORES will do when the weather is better. Prolly won’t be till tomorrow afternoon after work though.

@texasrho83 no not at all at the moment. I just know that I would most likely have to drop down to 35s whenever I do the lift cause I don’t believe I have the BMC to keep the 37s if they would even work with the 4.5 BDS

Thanks everyone for the welcome, and @KNABORES here are the pics of the front. Sorry for the late response. I also made another post in 2.5 gen forum today for recommendations also.

Don’t have experience with these lifts, but could you take the rubber spacer or the metal spacer off and lower the front 3” or so? The A arms seem to have plenty range of motion to come down a little

@KNABORES yes I noticed that also, I’m bout to be placing and order for the Coachbuilder steering kit here in the next couple days. I know I’ve read that would also help with the steering as well with the oversized tires. Would that solve this problem as well?
