Have a 22 platinum. I Started a CA lemon case in feb 24 due to the bevy of issues. Windows breaking, trim falling off, window seals having 1 inch gap, trim having gaps that seem to be spreading. Ceiling trim collapsing, wipers not working. It was in the dealership for 3 months of last year dealing with this nonsense. Got a call from lawyer today... was expecting a low ball, first offer of and extended warranty and a few k in free service. Was I wrong! Full purchase price plus 7k for additional costs incurred ( rentals etc )tundra journey finally over, I waited 6 months on list and paid damn near 84k for this truck. A truck that literally drove off the lot and went right back to dealer for issues. Just know it doesn't have to be this way, you don't have to take the L and eat 1000s of dollars to get out of a vehicle you feel trapped in ( like i did ). Check out your states lemon laws!

Lemon lawsuits are 0 out of pocket win/lose. There is a civil penalty of 7k that the lawyers get 40% of. I got 91k total. Then I had a payoff quote and 3ish k to lawyer for their portion of civil penalty. Ended up with a LOT of money. Toyota did right by me 100%

Great. I am still waiting for the lawyers to get back to me. Toyota tried to offer me another truck. I declined. I want my cash back and all of the expenses I incurred. And mine isn't even on the recall list! It failed at 314 miles and the dealer stuck me for a $13K bill.

Good to hear someone is getting back what you put into it. Did they try to "pro-rate" your mileage?

Congrats. Seriously, you should buy another NEW Tundra. Perhaps the same grade or better and pocket the rest.

Don't think so. They even bought back dealer add on tires and tonneau cover. Getting my surrender date shortly. Will update when it's all over.

If they are had an issue at 314 miles with a 13k bill, there's something more to the story. Did they state bad gas?

If my 3rd gen was a total piece of crap, the last truck I would want to buy is another 3rd gen. But, maybe that's just me?

The first year of many brands is a bit rough. Toyota did come through with the buyout.
As for what to do next? Buying an older version is an option but you cant move forward in life by trying to stay in the past.
Every manufacture is going with the smaller motors in their half ton trucks. As the years go on the NA v8 may only be available in super duty or larger trucks.

Good thinkin! He just went through 6 months of legal battles to get out of a Platinum Tundra. Seems like buying a Capstone or 1794 Limited Edition Tundra is the only logical move from here

Yea probably just you. I know when I do something that doesn't work out, I usually just tend to do the same thing again. Especially when large sums of money are involved

We're talking trucks here. Not exactly life changing philosophy.
My old truck will move me forward in life just fine. Probably even better, less money wrapped up in a depreciating object. And actually looking like the 2.5 gen Tundra's may hold their value far better into the future. So there's that.

    But, to each their own.

What do you go to next?

All of them have issues and the prices are crazy now. $80k for a 1/2 ton pick up truck? Maybe for 3/4 ton or more commercial that you use for making money. As a commuter car, never.

Sometimes you get a lemon and some dont. Your experience doesn't dictate the entire line of trucks. I have a 2023, I enjoy it and havent had a problem until recently. (front air dam) Do I hate the truck? Nope... still enjoy it.

LOL, yep get out of that first overpriced 2022 and get into a nice refined 2025.
Do a bit of research though if you go with a different brand.... Forums are full of pissed off people.

I wonder what they do with the buybacks? Strip them for parts? Junk 'em? Sell them as project trucks?

They did exactly that. Then when I involved Toyota Corporate, they had the story from the dealer that said it was bad gas. When I sent the fuel sample report from my insurance company, they stuck by it I have a lawyer and they will pay! The Toyota dealership with the shady characters was in Las Cruces, NM. Never going there again. Even when they get told to take the vehicle back, they can send the tow truck!
