Let me just start by saying wow. I've never upgraded a vehicle to this caliber of audio before. I'm blown away by the sound quality and performance. My truck in a non JBL.

I kept the factory headunit as I haven't found an aftermarket one that fits my needs.

I had planned on doing the installation myself but couldn't figure out how to wire the JL audio fix 86 so I found a local shop that did a great job installing everything. They spent about 10 hours doing everything.

    Here's what I had installed

    JL audio fix 86
Alpine PDX-V9 5 channel amp 100x4 for door speakers and 500x1 for the subs
JL C5 speaker with crossover and JL ZR100 tweeters in the front doors
JL C5 components in the back doors
    Tech12volts subwoofer box
    2 JL 10W1-V3-4 subwoofers.
Noico Black 80mil sound deadening. He used almost 36 sqft on the doors.
There is about 6 pounds of deadener in doors. I'm going to put some behind the back seat soon. The truck doesn't rattle a bit but I bought 2 boxes so might as well add some more.

I bought a used audio package back in March on the forum but someone broke into my garage and stole the JL ZR 650 components I had. The shop I had the work done at had a new set of C5's that they received in trade and sold to me for half price. I had planned on just keeping the back doors stock until funds allowed. But I couldn't pass up the deal.

He kept the speakers in the dash active and I'm not really sure if I like them connected or not. It hasn't ever been a week yet. They do make the "sound stage" complete but it's kinda weird honestly. My installer used the factory sail panels for the tweeters upfront. He was a little unhappy they wouldn't sit exactly flat in the panel as there is a little curve coming towards the back of the truck. It's no more an 1/16 of an inch. Hardly noticeable. I have been impressed the lengths he went installing everything. This was their first Tundra and I kind of threw the speakers installed on them last minute. I was just going to have them install the JL fix and the amp. But we got talking and I said screw it, just do everything.

I bought the harness from tech12volts to connect the factory speaker wires under the seat. My installer still had to pull the radio to get a line out for the JL fix. Something I was unaware of. I thought it would have been on the harness.

I bought an amp rack to tech12volts. It's just a piece of mdf wrapped in carpet. It's only 20 dollars and fits well under the seat. The amp just fits below the seat. Honestly I don't think you really need it. The amp has velerco on it and would look about the same on the carpet.

I'm more than happy with the subwoofer boxes from tech12volts. I bought the subs, subbox, amp wire kit, amp rack and the connectors for the door speakers. Great guy to work with. He even texted back an answer to a question I had during the install while he was on vacation.

The sound this thing outs out is crystal clear and not over powering until you crank it up. It's crazy how expensive everything is. But I have half used and half new parts, but my pocketbook still hurts. I could see using a bigger amplifier if I ever do this again as the speakers almost ask for more. I listen to mostly heavy metal, 90's, 80's and a mix of everything else. Mudvayne in this thing sounds liké I'm hearing them for the first time.

I'm going to be taking the long way home for a while now.

I got about the same thing.

    Sounds great

Had it all rewired and sound proofed.
Amazing how they tune it to the size of the cabin

Tuning it was another of my worries if I installed it myself. There is not a bad seat in the truck after the installer tuned it. I still need to play with JL fix with my laptop and mess with the settings. He told me to so I better do it. I can always restore the settings.

I still need to figure out why my bass knob isn't working. It came with the used package I bought and was missing a cable. It's a rj11 (phone cord) to an rj45 (Ethernet) cable. I bought one on Amazon but it's not working. It's only 35 dollars for a new Alpine knob with the correct wiring.

It is nice being able to roll all the windows down and still jam out. It was pretty bad with the stock speakers.

I remember it working just fine.

1 month after I had all everything installed my truck was stolen and they took the JL audio fix, amp and subs. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I just had a Rockford Dsr1 sound processor with a JL rd900 installed and it works very well.
