1st let me say that for the money this is a huge upgrade. $885 delivered and plug n play.

If you have the JBL system you know that the volume knob is broken. It only goes to 3 when you want 11. And IDK about you but I literally didn't think my truck came with the subwoofer until I looked. Very disappointing after coming from my 09 Tacoma with the JBL system which ROCKS IMHO.

Well with this humble little amp and shallow sub the Tundra now ROCKS.

The system took some tweaking though. When I fired it up It was (to my ears) harsh, the sub was kick drum heavy with little string bass audible. The center channel was very low and the door speakers were delivering very little mid bass. All this is fine because of the built in DSP.

Plugging a laptop into the new JBL 8 channel allows real time adjustment of all parameters including Xover cutoff point, slope and delay.

Check out this video for more and don't be like me...watch it 1st https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNPjM3Xe7bI&t=779s

James sent the amp preloaded with a base tune. It was a super safe tune that cut all the lows out of the door speakers and pulled the tweets down several DB. Once I adjusted them back up level with everything else (to my ears) now I have what sounds like tape hiss. If you know what that is you lived through the 80's and had plenty of tape stringers flying out the windows like me. If not, that's an annoying high freq hiss around 6k to 10k just sitting in the background audible in quieter passages and between tracks. I also have a background metronome click about every second. That's just idling in the driveway so I'll see if it changes with engine speed if so I'm sure there's a fix. If not, I have something weird to track down.

Overall I'm very happy so far and am enjoying geeking out on this.

Thanks @james@tech12volts for shinning a light on this little amp and I hope you're recovering quickly.

    Sorry I didn't get pics...maybe later :D

Reach out to James and I’m sure he’ll help track down the unwanted noises.

Did you ever figure out the “hiss” and “metronome click” noises?
