Is this TSB for the 3rd Gen real?

Possible TSB coming. I have this issue with my 2019 TRD Sport. Anyone else?

Possible transmission software update coming for odd shifting between 1-2 gears.

 

Thanks. I haven’t noticed anything odd between 1 and 2 but do have hard shifting sometimes going around 55 and giving it gas to pass someone.

 

First, I have the Mama Toyota tow package on my 2017 Tundra.

I have had ongoing frustration with a slow rolling stop and when transitioning from brake to gas. The tranny drops into 1st gear and quickly slams 2,000 rpms then just as quickly grabs 2nd gear. When my preference would be to have it just roll and accelerate softly in 2nd gear.

The video describes this scenario and a possible "fix." O.K. I'm groovy with that.

I have had this happen. Slow down almost to a stop coming into the garage and then it "bumps" out by itself.

 

Same here. It’s definitely a concern. Let’s all hope for the sake of our long lasting tranny that this TSB is released soon.

 

I’m taking my ‘19 in for its first oil change and the TSS recall today. I’m going to ask about about this. There’s one particular right turn I make out of my neighborhood that I notice this tranny issue. I thought it was just normal until I watched the video above. Then it all made sense. I’ll let you guys know what my service advisor says.

This happens to me when I'm slowing down to a near stop on my inclined driveway, waiting on the garage door to finish opening. When I hit the gas again, sometimes it slips. I was thinking of taking it in, but will keep an eye out for this TSB.

Mine does this as well at times, but my 05 Tacoma did the same thing. It doesn't happen all the time, not sure what actually triggers it to do it. Certain speed or rpm, or incline etc.

 

Hopefully there is a reflash for 2019 so then hp tuners can finally be supported for 19

*UPDATE*

Dropped the truck off about an hour ago. Service advisor(who is the asst service manager btw) gave me that “Stop reading the internet look” when I told him about it. I swear the guys on this forum are 1000% more knowledgeable on our trucks then these dealers. He confirmed there is no TSB for it yet, but would have the tech search for any flash available. I’ll update again when I pick up.

 

I’ve heard the same line before. Then a TSB was issued. I agree, let’s keep up the chatter from reliable sources of info.

 

He literally asked me if it was doing it before I saw the video. I told him the video just confirmed I was having the issue. Honestly I just thought it was normal. Didn’t feel right, but normal

 

This is my exact issue I've been trying to troubleshoot with the dealership before 60k - when the powertrain warranty runs out. It's not 100% consistent but mine has a tiny shudder in the middle of accelerating in first gear and then will punch into second more than smoothly shift. Went on a ride along with a tech twice. Any guesses when the problem didn't present itself!?!?

This could be the thing for me.

 

**FINAL UPDATE**

Well the tech couldn’t duplicate the problem. So no fix was done. They wanted to set up a time to ride with the shop foreman, but I figured it would be a waste of time. Even if he witnessed it happen, he couldn’t fix it anyways. We are all probably just going to have to wait until an actual TSB is released

 

Has this ever been resolved?

 

My 98 Tacoma,07 Tundra,17 Highlander and 19 Tundra Pro all do this. I have thought it was just a characteristic of Toyota’s.
