Truck isn't even 48 hours old. I just purchased it brand new this weekend, only 210 miles on the odometer.

Any idea what this ticking sound is? Seems to only happen after the truck is put into drive (and back into park).

UPDATE #2: Was told to pick up the truck as there were no issues and this sound was "Normal Operation of the vehicle" I didn't even make it off the lot before the noise got much louder. I drove right back into service to give my keys back to the Service Advisor. He denied there was an issue, so I went to sales and had them start up new Tundra's on their lot. None made this issue. The salesman was kind enough to walk back to Service with me and he got them to take the truck back to further troubleshoot.

Update #3: I got the text this morning (9 days of ownership, 7 of those days the truck has been at the service department), that the transmission will need to be replaced. I am a bit nervous on the quality of repair they will perform, as originally there was no issue according to their techs. So it's a bit concerning, especially for such a major replacement at only 210 miles on the odometer.

I will update further as the situation continues.

    Is that the transmission tick?

No idea. Is that a common issue? Is it bad?

The sound seems more pronounced towards the bottom/rear of the engine, so could very well be coming from the transmission.

I know there have been several of these requiring replacement - hopefully they get you up and running soon.

Mine doesn't sound like this at all. I'm sitting at 13k miles. Take it back to the dealer.

Could be something as simple as a heat shield rattling.

Thanks for the input. I just got informed they are going to replace the Transmission. Hopefully this doesn't lead to a problematic future of a brand new truck.

I just picked up my Limited on Thursday and drove down to San Diego the next day, about 140 miles and started hearing the same thing when I parked the truck

I only have 200 miles on the truck as I purchased new, and that was mostly highway mileage so it's hard to determine. But the truck seemed fine, other than the noise as far as my short experience has showed.

    My condolences.

Check with your finance paperwork to see if they have any type of 7 day refund/return type guarantee. My dealer does not, but I do know some do offer this type of guarantee.

Ill have to check the paperwork tonight. As long as Toyota does right and fixes the truck without too much downtime Ill be fine with that.

Mine is doing the same thing. You can even hear it inside the cab. It's loudest when truck is in park and not under load. Sounds like something internally in the transmission. Guess I'll be headed back to the dealer. Truck has 200 miles.

What's the build dates for guys that are having transmission issues/replacements? Mine is October 2023. Has been in the shop since January 10. Took them almost a month to decide to replace the transmission and has been waiting on the transmission since. Supposedly will be here next week.
