Is anyone running a Frontier Gear front replacement bumper?

I’ve searched everywhere I can find, my googlefu is not the best I guess. I have a Frontier Gear front replacement bumper on order (taking for ever, but that’s another story), but I’m trying to figure out if it maintains the factory recovery points after install. Anyone have any knowledge on them? I doubt it matters but this is the one I ordered with the light bar cutout.

Was said damage caused by the bumper, the driver, or the wildlife? Maybe all of the above. Let's hear it!

I'm gonna take a guess and say that the bumper is so heavy duty, it made the damage to the front end and maybe even the frame of the truck WORSE because it did not properly fold up or crumple the way it's supposed to.

With the right kind of collision, a bumper like that becomes part of the projectile that damages your truck.

I will never understand why people like cattle guard bumpers

    Looks god awful imo.

But OP to each their own, if you like it, that's all that matters cause it's your truck and your money

Also as others have said, having a heavy duty bumper usually causes additional serious damage to your truck in a collision, especially when you have the cattle guard bars.
Aggressive aftermarket bumpers are kind of a double edged sword that way.

Buy a tested product like ARB with crumple brackets and you don't have to worry about that kind of thing.

I love full coverage bruiser bumper replacements but I don't think there are but a select few that actually look good on the Tundra.

It wasn't until I became a Tundra owner that I started hearing how they do more damage to a vehicle than help. Ford, Chevy, Dodge...nearly everyone I know has them and they look badass and have helped protect their vehicle from more damage vs deer.

Bumper vs vehicle? I don't have any personal experience/knowledge of those outcomes.

Yes they do help a lot in fender benders and minor impacts, but often cause significantly more damage in stronger impact events.
Instead of broken body parts and core supports etc, you often get bent frames and totaled trucks.

    YMMV

Exactly why I won’t drive a truck without one. Small Central Texas deer bounce off, causing no damage vs $6k+ worth in my experience. If I hit something hard enough that the bumper causes more damage, I want the truck to be totaled and gone for good. If it’s hard enough that that happens, the truck is ruined. I’ve owned plenty of this style bumper and it’s saved me for 25 years on the road against deer, not to mention hogs.

These types of bumpers are ubiquitous in cattle country for good reason.

    exactly.

Don’t get me started on my old momma cow that loved to rub her head on the front on my truck… old bag tore the hell out of a dodge grill that was a week old and waiting on a bumper to come in lol.

They have been around since the early 2000’s that I remember. They were the first to take the classic ranchhand style and modernize it a bit.

If that Frontier bumper is built like a Ranch Hand then no worries at all. Solid! I had Ranch Hand on the front and rear on my 07 Tunny. I checked out Frontier's site. Quite decent!

They are pretty solid, all of the major brands are on par quality wise. Ranchhand was my first choice on style, but my buddies nephew just got in the truck accessories game and cut me a deal too good to pass up. I wanted to give the kid the business anyway, he’s the only source I wouldn’t have to leave town for, it a killer deal never hurt.

You're in cattle country too. Your truck would look out of place without it! A deer would be like a gnat..

Crazy that you have that big of a problem with animals on the road where you live.

I guess I am lucky in that respect never having lived where we have more than the random deer here and there.

I tend to agree also, if the truck is hit hard I'd rather it be totaled also in most cases.

I was dropping hay off for them, thought I could sneak in but the old girl caught me.

but they do get around the fence and get up around the house every now and then… the 410 with rock salt works well.

Dam that sucks, but that's life on the farm I reckon.

I would try to have a beater for things like that to keep my nice Tundra safe :)

We sit all day waiting for one particular deer. Plenty of trees, but deer love to roam.
