Is $4k off MSRP a good deal?

2025 Tundra Platinum w/ TRD package and TRD performance package. Just wondering what kind of deals are out there? MSRP $79k and some change.

Back in may-June I found a couple dealers giving 10k off. I hoped on the deal.
Most were 7500 off. You can do much better then 4k off.

It varies by region is my take due to tack ons by regional distributers. Hard to compare prices here because people talk different numbers as starting points. Some talk the factory sticker and some talk the regional and or dealer sticker with widely varying tack ons

I bought in SET country which is tack on heavy. I win line by line with my sales person refusing to pay for 100% profit bullshit and negotiating on every other tack on. I paid $750 for a $500 tint and more than I liked in a couple other things. At end of the day it was a solid deal on the exact truck I wanted

The above works really well last weekend of the month or better if the quarter. The whole place runs on commission and rent is due on the 1st

Is $4k off MSRP a good deal?.... I've seen that discount for 2026 models. You should be able to do better on a 2025.

$4k sounds about right for around here. I was negotiating for a 2025 Plat and they wouldn't give more than $3k. I passed. But that was 2 weeks ago and market conditions can change quickly.

I'm thinking hard about trading/selling in my '16 platinum with 55,000 miles... For those of you driving the "new" tundras, are you happy? I know a lot of people miss the v8, my truck is in excellent shape, but I am thinking about all the new bells/whistles, safety features, smooth ride, tech that comes with the newer models... Any input from you all is appreciated!

I love my new Tundra. Only thing I miss about my 2020 was the sound. I have a 4 year old and a 13 month old so I could care less about sound because I don’t want to wake them up when I leave for work in the morning! This new gen is awesome and the dealership I purchased from and get service from has really good customer service! No complaints from me.

    I have a 2012 SR5 w/ the base TRD package. 2024 Limited. Both CrewMax.

I prefer the TT V-6. Better fuel economy by a lot, much better passing. New one has a quiet, sedate ride.

I like having things like BSM, rear camera, auto emergency braking. If you get one, make sure you get the one with the front camera. Mine just has radar. It works fine, but a camera would be handier. I love the big screen. Seats are really comfortable. I loved the seats in the 2012, but now prefer these.

OEM tires on the 24 are trash if you live in a place with ice/snow. I replaced mine with Michelin Defender II's after first ice. VASTLY better snow/ice grip. I upgraded the interior lights right away since the OE ones are dim. Only other complaint is the dim lighting on the HVAC controls.

I came from a 2008 with the 4.7 and I like my 2022 much better for all the reasons you listed. The comfort, power, safety and much upgraded interior make it a no brainer for me. Plus crew max with 6.5’ bed. Add in a 10 year factory bumper to bumper warranty for a very reasonable price and it’s worry free for as long as I’ll own it.

Yep you pretty much nailed on the region pricing. Recently had the wife's '22 Sienna serviced at the local Toyota dealership and while I was there they called her saying we want your van...suspect (51k miles SLE package). After listening to the sales pitch and the great deal on the trade in I went to work trying to get them down a few dollars. I did some quick math on the differences on the extras and package difference and came up with a $3200 difference. I told them Id do it if they dropped the price that much and was told to pound sand pretty much.

4k may not be too bad. Now if they can do the 1.whatever % APR then that's a win to me. Looked into a new one recently and gave them a ball park idea of my credit which is great and they said if you didn't qualify for the 1.whatever % then it was close to 6/8.5 % which is insane to me for a new truck. Unless you have the 75k to drop on it then Id try like hell to get them down some more.

yes that’s with the 1.99 financing. That’s why I wanted the 2025 and not 2026. Plus it had TRD off road and performance pkg on the platinum. I’d have a hefty trade in with my 2016 tundra. They’re offering $30k for 2016. Maybe i could get more from carmax or private sale instead of trade. Not sure I wanna deal with that hassle. Sounds like most folks are happier with new tundras though. Of course the 5.7 is tried and true… decisions

FWIW, saw a TV ad last night for a local (Syracuse) dealer offering $5K off 2025 TRD SR5 MSRP of $56100 bringing it down to $51100.
I expect if they offer that in an ad they are willing to do more.

Frankly, you should keep your '16. At 55K miles it's barely even broken in, and it should be good for at least 100K more trouble-free miles.

The "bells and whistles" you desire really aren't that special, IMO. And the ride of the Gen 3 its actually worse on rough terrain than your 2016.

FYI, I've owned a 2008 and 2015 Tundras previously. I've been back to the dealership for more recalls and warranty work with my '23 in 2 years as I did in the combined 15 years I owned those previous trucks.

Might not be a bad deal for Commiefornia, but here in Ky. I got my truck easily for $10,500 off. And not sure about how your state works, but trade in value is a big deal here because you only pay taxes on the difference (owed) between the two vehicles. Good luck on your decision.

With a Plat or 1794, you should have no issue getting 5-8k off.
The higher trims are extremely discounted

My wife is the most brutally honest and objective person I know. The first time she sat in my '23 1794, she said, "it feels cheap compared to your old truck" (which was a 2015 1794).

That obviously wasn't what I wanted to hear at that moment, but she was correct. The best way I can describe it is the Gen 3s have a "plastic" feel to me. Everything on the interior feels lighter and more fragile. Even the sound of closing the doors has a distinct hollow ring compared to my past Tundras.

My opinion isn't the most popular around here, but it's honest. I'm not emotional about my vehicles, I say it how I see it.

I appreciate your (or should I say your wife's?!) honest opinion. There seems to be a lot of positives with the GEN3, but some negatives as well. My biggest concern is the engine isn't as tested in the real world and there have been some serious issues. I'm hoping those quirks/issues have been or soon will be worked out. Another person here indicated that I should keep my '16... That was a pretty convincing post.

Stop me if I'm wrong. Didn't Toyota have a recall already for metal shavings or something like that? I look at the new motor like this. How long did Ford take to get the EcoBoost somewhat good? I know its like comparing apples to oranges but still similar concepts.

The recall covers 2022 and early 2023 models, but in 2025 the problem still exists. Which would go to say that it isn't metal shavings causing it. There are plenty of other threads to discuss that in though

I have a '24 TRD off road limited 4x4. Owned about a year (next month) with 5700 miles on it. Haven't really gone anywhere. I like it but dealers here in SoCal giving you crap and threaten warranty cancellation for every little mod you want. I just put on a Evo Sport Smartcap. And Now I hear some guys have been advised about the same thing because they had the cap brake light connected by a harness from the rear taillight. Really? I sold my 2017 Tundra with 76000 on it. Still running like a top. Wish now I had kept it. Had it tricked out and fear if I do anything to my '24, I will have an uphill fight with Toyota. The only thing that worries me now is the durability of the engine, even though mine was a July '24 build with the new changed out bearings. It appears Toyota is trying anything to get out of fixing your new 3rd gen's if something goes wrong that isn't a simple fix.

Unfortunately, Toyota has changed. My 2017 was tricked out to begin with from the dealer. SR5 with big tires, lifted, performance exhaust cat back system, and other mods. Upgraded aftermarket sound system, etc. Was the showroom queen until I took it.

Toyota doesn't use high quality materials like they used to. I had a current gen Highlander and got rid of it in part because of the crappy interior. It is really downmarket compared to Honda. Hell, a new Lexus is downmarket compared to a Honda. I'm sure the new Tundra's interior will wear like steel, but it has a merely acceptable quality interior. The old truck has much nicer quality materials. The design of the screen doesn't do it any favors, either.

Tradeoffs had to be made, though. Accounting for inflation my 2024 Limited and 2012 SR5 have the same exact price.

I still shake my head every time I grab the steering wheel on my new Tundra. Looks and feels like Fisher-Price made it.
