You haven't provided enough info for anything but a very vague generic answer.

    What year?

    What engine?

    Any maintenance records?

    How handy are you?

    And of course, :worthless:

    I hope not - I just bought a Sequoia with 245k.

Depends on what kinda miles those 100k are. Some are better than others.

All vehicles newer than '71 are garbage. Except motorcycles. You dont want anything newer than 2003.

You'll know once you test drive.
One i test drove felt way down on power and just obviously worn compared to feel of the one i ended up buying even though they were similar year and miles. Both had over 100k. I guess it must have been harder miles put on that other truck or poor maintenance or both.

Some can still look or feel almost new at 100k if you get lucky.

Use a site like autotrader to see what is in your price range within a certain distance. I had found a handful near same price with big differences in mileage, age, and options within 100 miles of my place.

Like any other vehicle. It all depends on how those 100,000 miles were added. Did a little old lady use it to run back and forth to the supermarket or was it used by a contractor who towed 12,000 lbs everyday with another 2000 lbs in the bed while driving full throttle through the desert.

Line up a mechanic to come look at it if you are not sure.

Bought my 2017 with 120k. All highway it seems from the records and maintained comfortably within spec. Drove fine, had power, no smoke at cold start or restart, didn't over heat, no lights on dash.

It is not without minor issues though over the last 10k.

Ultimately, if the price is right it might be worth the gamble. But, if spending a few extra thousand is not an issue, get something you will be more comfortable with.

I bought my 2000 Tundra in 2005 with just shy of 100k miles on it. It's only lasted 19 more years and 170k more miles so far.

I was looking into trying to get a 2018 to 2021 tundra, and either v8 engine is okay with me.
Handy wise i can do only the standard stuff as far as checking fluids and changing air filter.
Thank you all for your feed back !

    1. Driveline vibration at 30, 50, and 80 mph. Cyclical in sound. Likely the drive shaft carrier bearing.

    2. U-Joint clunk when going to drive or reverse to drive.

    3. Rear main seal seep. Noticed at the 130k oil change and was also changing the PCV at the same time. Has not happened since that though. PCV seemed to be fine but was sticky.

That is it. Rest of the truck is great!

Garbage might be a little strong word to use. 2G tundras are making a million miles pretty often these days. I myself have logged a total of 945,000 miles on three vehicles (one Ford, two Toyotas) manufactured between 1993 and 2016. No engine rebuilds on any of them.

That would be difficult to say about pre-1971 vehicles.

I bought my 4Runner with 111K. Sold it at over 200K and it never needed anything other than maintenance.
My credit union actually made an exception to their rule of not loaning money for anything with over 100K miles specifically because it was a Toyota.

I bought my '00 Tundra 4.7 with 155K. Beat on it and towed a 5,500 lb. travel trailer with it for 6 years and sold it with 205K to get my '19 and it too never needed anything other than maintenance.

That being said, I knew the previous owners and the history of both vehicles, so I knew how they were driven and how they were maintained.

    This is key.

My 13 year old 113K truck was nearly 100% dealer serviced its entire life, had multiple transmission drain and fills, fresh transfer case and diff fluid and coolant flush. If whoever got it put a water pump and spark plugs in it they probably can do nothing but change oil for another 100K. and 10-12 years.

That's what I'd tell you if you were buying my old truck but you're not and there's not much other info in the post so I can't say.
