I own a 2006 double cab and the alarm has started going off intermittently. I cannot figure out what triggers it, just seems to do it at will. I can park it WAY out in the woods and it still triggers, no signals of any kind, well maybe from the navy jets flying around, but DEEP woods with no fob batteries and it still alarms.

There is a new red light that appears on the dash when you lock the truck. The red light is a truck with a key in the middle. In the last five years of owning this truck I have not seen this light once and never had an alarm trigger. At first I thought the fob batteries, but I removed those and the alarm is still triggered. The truck even does it when it is unlocked. Another oddity is the truck has started locking itself after being unlocked.

One thing to note is that our front windshield has developed a crack from the freeze-thaw cycle, but honestly, the window has been broken while locked before and has never done this.

Should I clear all the remotes and reprogram them?
Why did this red light come on all of a sudden?
    Is the ECU going out?
Did I turn the alarm on somehow?
How can I turn the alarm back off if it did get turned on?

Out of town for a couple of weeks for work, but will try any suggestions when I get back home.20230220_070543.jpg 20230220_070149.jpg
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Regarding "red light is a truck with a key in the middle"....that is part of your Theft deterrent system. Under normal conditions, once key is removed and doors are locked, approx 30 sec later the red light should start blinking denoting alarm is set.

As for alarm, is it your horns blowing or a high pitched sound ?

As for doors locking, can you explain that a little more.
An 06 alarm should be similar to my 04. For instance, if one unlocks doors with remote and for what ever reason is slow in opening doors, theft system will activate and lock doors. My 04 is set for 60 sec's, which is programmable.

    My 2¢:

If you suspect it's alarm related, and this happens once a day or similar, rule out the remotes. Pull the batteries out of all of them. If it continues happening, you know it's internal to the vehicle.

First thing you need to do is figure out if the dealership ported one of the shitball aftermarket alarms that were available. KARR is one brand, but there are others. Likewise, if you're not the original owner, you may want to check whether you see any wire splicing behind the driver kick panel and under driver's side of the dash, in case a previous owner installed an aftermarket alarm, or if there may still be parts of one intact. The symptoms you describe are common when aftermarket alarms reach their end-of-life starting 8, 10, sometimes 15 years after install.

Second, more info on the windshield crack is needed, a picture would help loads, so we can see where leaks would happen, and maybe help to diagnose what could've been impacted. The RS3200 ECU is up under the driver's side of the dash if I recall, as is the fusebox (integration panel) which is known to cause havoc is it gets wet from windshield leaks, we've seen that plenty. If it's on the passenger side, the ECU is under the glovebox and isn't waterproof so we've seen that get damaged too, but there's a very common leak which happens on the passenger side cowl that'll drench the floorboard and could be a red herring for dampness (more info in our 'Definitive Leak Thread' in the sticky thread section)
