My 2017 tundra low fuel light comes on at around 30 miles. When I fill the tank I can only get 28 gal in the tank yet I am supposed to have the larger 38 gal tank. This happen to anyone else? I was thinking of carrying extra gas can and running the truck until it actually runs out of gas. Good or bad Idea? Any one that has run of of gas have any problem starting the truck afterwards?

Lots of threads on this, upper right there is a search box. It's typical you will only fill up around 30 gallons even when empty.

There are other threads you should read prior to doing that. Its 38 gallons but the fuel pump is submerged in that 38 gallons. Mine will register empty at 32 gallons. 6 gallon reserve for the fuel pump to stay submerged.

I tried to find other threads before posting. Seems silly to have 6 gallon in the tank that are not useable.

I agree, but it's all marketing. Claiming 38 gallon tank is better than saying 30. I dont like the search engine in here, Google search with tundras.com in the search about the gas tanks will help with the headache

I ran mine until the light came on yesterday. I believe the computer trip counter said about 20 miles to empty. Took a hair over 30 gallons to fill it full. Unfortunately this is normal.
