What are folks doing for insurance for aftermarket parts on your rigs? I just talked to Progressive and they have a 5K cap for aftermarket parts insurance. No bueno...

Progressive has a 5k limit as well, keep forgetting to ask if I can increase it somehow.

Asked state farm for 25k last month, said they don't offer any currently. Sucks balls! However, they did say they are hoping to have a plan next year. Apparently they have a pilot program running in a few states to figure out the details (profit margins lol).

    I'd be happy with 15k.

That's what I was trying to get. I was surprised to hear it was only 5k and there's no obvious available option to increase it.

Tried that with state farm. Cannot. Basically sitting on a time bomb at the moment.

Travelers offered me $5 or $10k, went with the larger amount but still feeling a bit narrow on that.

Personally have a large umbrella. Umbrellas are an additional liability protection. They cover liability claims over and above your initial coverage, but only liability, and only over the minimum standards.

My State Farm policy covers whatever is on the truck not just stock replacement. It also covers replacement of equivalent vehicle not just KBB. When you start modifying, lifts, winches, bumpers, tires, wheels, shells etc. Your policy needs to be modified to cover such with a stated value policy.

I'm in NorCal and have 4 trucks the wife's 2 cars our travel trailer my dirt bikes, 3 boats and my house under one policy. Everytime we add something it is for a stated value. If I start modifying something that is substantial we modify the policy to cover in case of loss.

Yeah I’m going to have to call Progressive again to see what I can do to be covered. Need 15k in after markets. I was surprised they had the 5k cap. Still don’t understand why. Charge what you will but why cap it?

Another way to look at add-ons is when you take something off to add something different, the cost of what the new part cost is not an increase to what you paid for it because what was on there had it's own replacement value. If you add say a shell and carpet kit, winch, lights, etc. that would need to covered for direct replacement value. So if you take something off to put something on it does not add that much value as you paid.
