While changing out my incandescents with LEDs for Instrument Cluster, I was able to know after install which LEDs I had in the proper polarity direction either by IGN ON(bulb test for those that should be lit) or checking door open, brake on, blinkers, cruise....etc. One oversight I made before starting, was not noting which lights come on during Ignition On position(bulb test). Having a 2004, would those with this type or any that are compatible, please let me know if the ones circled in red should be on during IGN ON ?

I'm feeling confident I have the ones in question polarity wise due to knowing which side of bulb socket is positive by applying a 9 volt battery to bulb holder contacts with LED in place and marking on holder which was positive. I then put the bulb holder in place orientating according to the copper trace on cluster back plane where GND is for that bulb socket and in some cases same GND for other bulbs. For kicks and grins, I also flipped those in question 180 with IGN ON and still no go.

Do not want to assume wrongly but I feel the 4HI/4LO will not light because the indicator lights for 2WD/4HI and 4LO have indicator lights on the 2 buttons at bottom of Control Panel ?

Long way around the barn, I am not sure about VSC OFF, VSC TRAC, SLIP INDICATOR, AUTO LSD or Wiper Fluid circled in red and whether they should be on briefly during IGN ON or even how to test them ?

    TIA

After having replaced my OEM lights with LED's, I just took the truck out last night for the first time for a night drive. What I found was not okay, as both the turn signal indicators and especially the bright beam indicator are far too bright. Unfortunately, these lights do not dim as the other instrument panel lights will when desired. It is something I can live with, mostly by avoiding the use of my high beams - not too problematic as my regular beams when supported by my fog lights are more than sufficient. Still, it would be nice to fix this should anyone have a work around. The turning indicators are sufficiently off to the side as to not pose too much of a problem.

I can only add that if that was my situation, I would not worry about it given it must be a county law around here to NOT use your turn signals :D

Just curious and in all seriousness, did you by chance save any of the small condoms? for the small bulbs ? I initially put some of the condoms over a few selected LEDs but soon after took them back off given they were not as blinding when it got truly dark !

I can add some porn if someone can turn their 2004 Tundra IGN ON and say whether their indicator lights circled in red above come on briefly :D

Yes, I most certainly did save those covers and it will be my first step in correcting the problem should they fit over the LED's. I'm thinking my second choice would be to dip the former bulbs in high temp blue paint, let dry and reinstall in place of the LED's for these positions.:notsure:

Switch your toyota badges for BMW badges. Then you never have to use turn signals again!

I live in a rural area on the west coast where the ticketing officers need to start distributing credit applications with their extremely expensive tickets, and where BMW, and Range Rovers, and Mercedes, etc., are a prime revenue source signaling the ability to actually pay the fines. Unless the driver of such a vehicle is a well known part of the local political machine, their car is targeted, even stalked some would say. Okay, I stretch the truth a tiny bit, but it sure seems so.:sorry:

Back to Bubba W, none of your red circled lights ignite during start up. I have 190K on my truck and have only seen the wiper fluid light come on once. S o for that reason I left those other 4 with original incandescents. As for 4 LO and 4 HI those do illuminate when engaged. 4 HI is in amber and 4 LO is in blue. Crazy all the testing that's neede to verify correct operation. I had a flippin nightmare getting my LED headlights and fog lights working with the bright indicator in dash. It required a 6 ohm 50watt load resistor on passenger side only to make it all work correctly. Hope this helps

Thanks goose but just to make sure....when you put in IGN ON position only, none of those red circled come on even momentarily

    btw, don’t leave your wingman

Absolutely not. Checked 3 times before I dove into project. Besides my truck has no engagable LSD. Limited slip differential. Double check with the incandescents if you need.
