How to clean the dealer’s pre delivery detail screwup? Noticed this yesterday. Grrrr. From what I can fanthom, whatever ‘liquid’ was used to clean the instrument cluster bezel, got behind the bezel through the two holes and promulgated outward and down...

Looks like a warranty claim and a day at the shop to me. Double grrr.

Truck has 454 miles on the odometer. btw, the pre delivery detail job was the most lackadaisical cleaning I have ever observed. Those guys that clean your windshields, at the red lights on off-ramps in Miami, would have done a better job. Dirt was still between the door rubber seals, and, well, never mind.

That's on the inside. I would lose my mind. Take that thing in. Sad they are going to have to take apart the dash. Take full pics outside and in. Dealerships love door dings, paint scratches, curb rashed rims, and long walks on the beach.

Dealership says they will fix it. And give me a loaner vehicle as well. Erdman says they might be able to clean the thing. The Melbourne dealership said that is not possible. The entire cluster needs replacement. So Erdman Toyota is still is winging it. As the melborne dealership took the time to research and give me a definitive answer. That yes, there is no cleaning of the bezel. Replacement is the only way. I now conjure up visions of a hack job removing the bezel with associated sloppy glue job. lol. Jeez. Order the thing so you can install it straight away Mike Erdman Toyota.

I would think just the plastic lens could be replaced, no? The plastic they use on these gauge cluster "windows" or lenses is so soft a baby's ass would scratch it.

My dealer scratched my cluster and they were able to replace just the plastic - they did not need to replace the entire cluster.

I bought my Tacoma from Mike Erdman in 2016 and the detail genius managed to stain my door panel with whatever chemical he used to clean with. Streaks down the door and two different detailers couldn't get it off. Never had good luck with their service department and always went elsewhere for my Toyotacare. I hope they make it right for you!

Had to give you a "like" for using the words "promulgated" and "lackadaisical" in your OP.

BTW...Glad the dealership is making it right.

Every vehicle I’ve ever owned has been scratched easily on the instrument panel plastic. I do my best to use a spray detailer and microfiber cloth but it still happens. I only wipe it down when I clean my truck and then leave it alone. Now getting crap on the inside of the lens, that’s another story. That would piss me off.

Ain't that the Truth. Somebody needs to develop a gorilla glass aftermarket replacement.
