Infotainment Issue (22 Platinum 14" Screen)

Ran into a first world problem recently and wanted to see if anyone else has seen it and if they found a fix. It used to be when you asked "hey Toyota" for the weather it would not only tell you the weather, but also show you the weather. Now it only tells you the weather and the screen that normally shows the weather comes up, but it's blank. It doesn't show anything no matter how long you leave it on that screen.

I initially thought it was me being in an area with low cell reception, but it doesn't seem to be the case. I've tried in areas where there is good reception and the command has worked flawlessly before, but it no longer seems to.

 

I am not sure what the issue is, I've never tried this. I know the infotainment won't show information if the vehicle is moving sometimes. Just a guess but have you tried that option when the vehicle is not moving or possibly in park?

 

Yeah that was one of my thoughts as well and thought maybe they disabled viewing it while driving, but doesn't seem to be the case. No longer works when parked either. It's odd that the screen for showing weather comes up but its just a blank screen (with the background color). I'll see if I can get a picture of it next time.

 

I just tested it on mine. I drove around the parking lot(nothing higher than 15MPH) it works driving and parked. It pops up the weather with a picture(not weather radar) from accuweather. I wish my one buddy was at work, I would ask him about this. My truck still has all the trials going I believe, I wouldn't think it's dependent on those. If you are comfortable, send me your vin via a private/direct message, I can check the telecoms and maybe a few other things to see if something is blocked.

Yeah there wasn't ever a weather radar that I remembered, but the basic forecast like in the post above was what always showed up. I'll PM you the VIN shortly. Thanks for looking into it. By the way I did get the parking brake recall/SB updated about 2 weeks ago and I don't remember it being an issue before. Not sure if they are somehow related software wise but also another thing to note.

 

if i remember correctly, the weather is updated via hd radio station, at least it was on the old head units (its listed in the manual in my 14 4runner)

 

You are correct, that data was HD Radio as long as that signal was being recieved and broadcast through FM HD Radio. I can't confirm how the data is transmitted to the new trucks but I would bet it's cell data based.

 

Is this a Platinum only feature? My 2019 had a weather icon I could select. This 2022 doesn't but I do have the 14" screen.

 

It's part of the Toyota Intelligent Assistant, as long as you have it enabled on your radio, Say Hey Toyota, wait for a response than say show me the weather

 

Thanks. I got in my truck before I seen this and pushed the mic icon, and asked. Then a TalkBack told me. I thought well at least it says it, then it popped up on the screen. I then tried asking for other areas around the world. My son asked where's the coldest place in the world and it said Siberia -90° or so.

 

Next ask for the temp in Hell, Norway. Right now its 41f. If you got the same temp you can say it's cold as Hell. Good thing you're a dad, you can get a pass on that stupid joke.

 

Has the weather not showing on the info system issue been resolved? This problem just showed up on our 2022 Tundra Limited. The system says the weather like it always has, the screen is just a blank blue screen. It worked correctly for the past 1+ years.

 

Just curious have you tried rebooting the infotainment system? While on push the volume button down until the screen turns off and reboots. It’s kind of like hard resetting your phone

Matth66, I tried rebotting the infotainment system today. The problem with weather not displaying after the verbal weather is reported still exists. Any additional recommendations will be appreciated.

 

I have the same issue with my 2023 1794 edition. It used to works for three months, then it stopped working a couple of weeks ago. I have tried testing it with the truck parked as well and I get the same blank screen as is reported in the threads above.

 

CitySlicker179 - I still have the issue with the weather not showing on my display. I called Toyota's 800# last week... they were not able to help me. They advised to discuss the issue with my dealer. I plan to tell the dealer... but not until an oil change is due... probably in the next 6-8 weeks. Good luck! I hope you find a solution before I do. I don't believe Toyota is going to fix the issue until enough people complain about the problem.

 

They deleted my profile, then I had to follow the prompts which included entering my cell number, and having the app scan a QR code on the display for authentication. Once completed, the toyota Infotainment system was set up. I used the voice command "hey Toyota will it rain tomorrow?", the system replied and provided the weekly weather again on tge screen.

Problem resolved.

You need to have Toyota do the reset.They said it is not possible with a simple reboot.
