Increase towing power

    2009 Green Tundra 4x4 TRD
    Leveling kit, air bags.
    Pardon my ignorance all, I own a 2009 Tundra 4x4 TRD, leveling kit and rear air bags installed.
    I also own a 31' rv trailer that I do not feel comfortable towing over long distances, is it possible to increase torque or is the choice to trade for a diesel powered truck?

    What kind of weight are you towing? And how far? What kind of terrain and elevation? How often are you pulling the trailer?

    Decrease your tire size back to stock size and run a highway tire. Remove your lift.

    I agree with what @Jrharvey02 said, you can increase torque and the best way I know(numbers wise or gains) is a full race exhaust from dirty deeds, cheaper than a supercharger which adds way more hp/torque. Returning the truck to stock is better for the truck, as it was designed that way and can tow safely and not have to add any mods to improve it except for a rear sway bar.

    The tlr is 8,000 lbs dry weight.
    The only time I've moved it long distance was when I retired from the military service and moved from CA to West TX two yrs ago. It was a rough ride, as far as gas mileage and uphill driving. Now that i'm retired I want to take it out on pleasure/camping trips out here in the southwest (200-300 mile trips).
    In CA, I used the tlr to live in it for three yrs while stationed in 29 Palms, after that I only took it from my house in SoCal to the beach (30 mile distance). Now it's been stored for the two yrs since I moved here. If it was paid for, I'd sell it but it is not financially viable for me to sell it, still owe a lot on it.

    If you owe that much on the trailer and you dont even want it anymore, then a diesel truck is probably a terrible financial decision.

    Sounds pretty dang heavy though, 9k minimum loaded up is really heavy

    Yeah, I was really not educated as an "rv'er" when I bought it, after the fact I realized I had bought a tlr a little too big to haul around with my Tundra. I'll probably look for a deal to trade up for a used motor home if I'm to live with a rv. Giving up my Tundra for a diesel truck is not really an option, I like it too much.

    What gear are you running?

    I tow a half ton towable 5th wheel with my Tundra. I use 4th gear 100 percent if the time. As long as I'm 65 mph, it loves that gear. I get 10 mpg. I'm Happy with that.
