I'm in the market for a Tundra. Id like to share some of my wants and needs and see if anyone can help steer me in the right direction.

    Must haves:

    Must have Crew Max

    Must have dual climate control.

Must have heated leather seats (preferable with both driver and front passenger seats powered)

Must have 4 wheel drive. I don't plan to offroad much but do plan to tow a boat and have heard 4WD is better when you re-sell.

Best and most comfortable ride/suspension on paved roads.

    Wants:

Front and Rear parking sensors and Blind Spot monitor. I almost put this one in the must have column. I'm going to use this as a daily driver and weekends with kids parking at malls with crowded parking garages. seems like the sensors would be a major benefit

    Powered front seats with memory.

    Dual exhaust.

Here's what I'm considering as I look for Tundras online.

SR5 TRD Sport with upgrade packages so it has leather seats (not sure if heated or if front passenger would have memory and not sure if has dual climate control)

Limited- Nightshade package because i hate Chrome and 20" black alloy wheels. I'm not sure why TRD Sport package is not available with the limited.

TRD Pro: I love the way it sounds but can't believe it doesn't come with parking sensors or blind spot!!!!

Another issue is pricing. Dealers are selling TRD Pro's at sticker price apparently. While one youtuber I follow says he bought a 2020 Tundra Limited for $8,000 under MSRP/Sticker.

The only drawback to the Limited is the chrome and doesnt have duel exhaust (I think limited has same leather seats aS TRD PRO. Makes me wonder if simply adding the trd pro exhaust to the limited is the way to go. Especially if i can get a limited for $8k off MSRP. I would also get night shade package so the chrome is darkened and hopely looks better.

The other issue is the Bilstein shocks vs Fox shocks. The TRD Sport and the limited have Bilstein shocks. While the TRD Pro has fox shocks and 18 inch tires. I wonder which setup wiould be more comfortable on paved roads and taking 4-5 hour road trips.

Any help with the best route to take here is appreciated.

    Welcome from Maine.
Sounds like the Limited is the one thatd get you closest to what youre looking for. Can buy/add dual exhaust after and can get painted grill surround and bumper caps to de-chrome. All depends on how much you wanna spend.
From what Ive seen on here, the dealers arent budging on prices for people because demand is through the roof and the trucks are just now trickling back in. Shop around though, including across the country, for numbers. I shipped my truck from 1000 miles away because it was ‘the one’ after 6 months looking for the exact truck I wanted. If you limit yourself to an hour or two drive you wont have as much for choices.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! Your first "must have" list would all be taken care of by the Platinum or 1794, except for the dual exhaust, which could be added. They also have the safety sensors you're looking for.

Limited with the Ltd Premium Package will get you the blind spot & parking sensors and then do the chrome delete. Platinum would also be worth a look. I just went through this with similar requirements, black interior was a no go with kids, sunscreen and weather so decided on a Limited with grey interior and doing the chrome delete myself. You can always add exhaust or other items later.

Since the TRD Pro is intended for off roading, I wouldn't necessarily look to those Fox shocks for on road comfort. I'm not saying they're not comfortable as I've never driven one; I'm just saying I'd be surprised if they're more comfortable that what's on a TRD Sport, Limited or Platinum.

This. Just bought my Tundra yesterday and felt like I was being bent over a barrel. It's a complete sellers market and they know it.

Literally heard people looking to buy my truck while I was trading my old car in.

I agree with others, Limited Premium package or a Platinum.
TRD Pro is overkill for your needs and dealers will NOT deal on them.

Do your own chrome delete, maybe put a TRD Pro grille and hood bulge.
Swamping the grille and hood bulge is easy.

Also I'd reconsider the dual exhaust.
    Research @dirtydeeds BAM systems.
I have a 10" single out and love it.
Less drone than the stock TRD duals.

Totally bolts on to existing Tundra pipes with minimal drone.
If you must have duals, he has a dual system..

Plus Pros don't have BSM in the states. That was part of what swayed me away from them.

I also wanted to ask about paint protection. I have always thought it was a dealership scam. But lately I have seen several youtube videos of people complaining that the paint on the tundra is very thin and chips/scratches easily. They all wished they had gotten the paint protection add on package. Anyone here get the paint protection or wished they had done so?

About the only thing I have to say is...skip the dual exhaust! Cheaper and better route BAMUFFLER!

I've bought well over $1K in parts from @Roman and Toyota of Cool Springs
If you have any questions shoot him a message..

Pay attention to the year models, what ever you buy and whatever you need.
Some the newer models, 2018 and up, have TSS sensors in the grille and that makes things a little different.

^ This cannot be promoted or brought up enough.

You don't need dual exhaust to make a Tundra sound sweet.
You just need one of Keith's @dirtydeeds bolt on systems.
I'd also say his systems sound better and have less drone than a Toyota TRD system.

6" if you want the sound of glass packs like a 1975 GMC pickup.
8" if you want a little rasp and loudness up from stock.
10" if want it a bit louder than stock.

Best thing to do is contact Keith and tell him your wants and needs (loudness, towing, etc..).
He will recommend what he feels will work best for you..

Love my 10" with welded on tip.

I was in your shoes a few weeks ago and had very particular needs in a truck. I didn’t want BSM or any other sensors though. Also didn’t really like the 2-tone black/grey seats on the limited. So I was between a Platinum or Pro, put an order on a Pro. (Don’t care for the red stitching on the Pro seats either)

With your needs I think a Platinum or 1794 would work, those to my knowledge, are the only ones with memory seats. Platinum for minimal chrome.

I think you can have PPF applied at independent shops for less than the dealership would charge.

Thin paint is a complaint on pretty much all new vehicles now.
