    K&N makes a washable cabin air filter as well.

    I thought the maintanence book has the first change at 60,000. I could be wrong but I follow it when I schedule my services.

    I washed mine out every other oil change and it was dirty.

    I simply signed up for an Amazon subscription. I get a new Fram cabin air filter every 4 months. I can change the interval to whatever ever I want. A subscription will save you even more. I can't imagine waiting 60K miles.

    I try to do mine every year but it seems like it’s more like every two. It’s always filthy. I even started only using recirc, to see if that made a difference. It hasn’t. It’s the dirt from outside not in the dirt in the truck.

    For 28.00, it paid for itself pretty quick.

    I use a washable and vacuum and clean it every 5k when I rotate tires and lube my driveshaft. The Amazon subscription idea is pretty slick, if I didn't have a reusable filter I would do this.

    Toyota swaps mine out for free when it's recommended by the maintenance schedule - I extended my ToyotaCare to 75K miles. For my other vehicles I just typically use the MicroGard cabin filters from Oreilly's.

    They turn that color pretty quickly if you start with a white one. The kind I use are already grey when new.

    I just change them twice a year at the same time for all my vehicles, same time I do the HVAC filters and water filter.

    I use the wix engine air filters too, I used to use K&Ns, them AFE dry in my previous cars and tacomas, then realized that is just a bad idea. Why would I knowingly use a filter that allows more crap through it and risks damage to the MAF and engine. When my OEM was due for a change, my research led me to WIX and I doubt I'd ever switch back as far as engine air filters. The increased air flow of those "performance" filters are not worth the increased dirt flow at all.
