I could bring the Lexus too. Just put new tires on it.

Never mind....it wouldn't make it up Hoosier Pass. Rear wheel drive.

None of the other flatlanders worry about Rear wheel drive...they just get stuck and block the locals

Does the new Colorado DOT rules apply in your city or just on highways?

All high mountain passes but it's not really enforced until you block traffic or cause an accident. It's pretty foreign to most people they enforce it on so it's not really helping much

The biggest problem is coming out of Eisenhower tunnel to Vail. Big commercial trucks are the biggest issue up here. The fine for not chaining up is not high enough for them to stop and put them on. The fine is only $1500 and the loss in profit for the companies is much greater than that so they push the drivers on 18 slicks

Where the heck's your truck??? o_O

Early in the week they were saying 10"-12" here, I was really looking forward to trying the truck in it - unfortunately - it's since been downgraded (depending on one's perspective I suppose) to 2"-4"....:(

I avoid Vail Pass as much as I can, but unfortunately some of the best off-roading is in Gypsum, CO.

I wish i could avoid Vail Pass but my office is in New Castle and my territory goes from Salida to Wyoming to Rangely to Telluride and some of Utah. I manage the entire Northwest 1/3 of the state. I'm all over on a regular basis. Vail Pass is a bitch!

    TOYO Open Country C/Ts

They've been on the market for just a few years but were designed to compete with the Duratracs and they are winter rated. Pretty aggressive for a winter rated tire. They look good, low road noise, and have held their own in the mud already. I just haven't tried them in deep snow yet

Thanks buddy! I tested it's capabilities this afternoon coming down Vail Pass. The rental will officially hold 70mph but anything over that it's a little splashy in the snow

Glad to hear that, and damn glad your screwed up brakes didn't result in anything more than aggravation. Gonna feel funky having full brake action - I hear those front brakes are kinda important...
