My name is Filip Hanik. We own nothing but Toyota's. I have a 2010 Toyota Tundra that I really enjoy.

Since the "must read" section had lots of information on how to negotiate price on a new vehicle.
When it comes to Toyota it is a mistake to negotiate starting at MSRP or even consider "goodies". Buying a car is always a pain in the rear.

You know you got a fair deal if you get dealer invoice or below. Even far below dealer invoice, the dealer makes money.

Any Toyota dealership can print you a "dealers invoice". This shows how much the dealership pays for the vehicle.
I have attached my invoice here for you to review.

If you pay "dealer invoice price", the dealer still makes money. The dealership makes the "Dealer Holdback" amount, $656 in my case. The dealer can also add "TDA" (advertising fee) and "Whsl Financial Reserve" (interest on loan) to make more money, these are also negotiable.

Overall, all these acronyms on an invoice is total BS. But it is good to know how the system works before you negotiate my price.

In my case, I paid $38,100 (including tax) for my vehicle since Toyota had a $3,000 cash back deal. The cash back pretty much cancelled out the taxes. I gave the sales guy $399 for letting me do a custom color and fabric order.

And I don't think I got a great deal, but definitely better than most people that walk in and try to negotiate. What I liked about my deal is that I did a custom order from the factory because I wanted a color combo that wasn't offered and I wanted fabric instead of the faux(?) leather. I had to wait 7 weeks for the vehicle to be built and shipped before I got my hands on it, and never sitting on the lot.

If it helps, I have attached dealer invoices for two Toyotas that we have bought.

All of the above and work several dealers. Let them know you're shopping. Tell them "I'm not here to make your house payment"

I called every Toyota dealer i could find in a 300 mile radius. Hit the big ones especially. Find the model you like with the trim you want. Ask for that specifically and don’t settle. Get a couple of them ina bidding war with each other. Take notes, names and direct numbers for the salesmen, not the floor number. You should be able to get a good deal on the remaining 2018’s they are trying to move off the lots to make room for the 2019’s. Read the other post mentioned above. There are really good points in there. Took me about 2 weeks of haggling before I finally got mine. Saved me $10k between the price and trade in though so it was worth it. If you do have a trade in go to car max and get a written quote. No pressure obligations so don’t worry. Took me 30 minutes total and that was $5k alone in savings from what the dealer was offering.

They are looking to move 2018s right now. Wait until end of month and pick a stock unit you want and offer no more than 15% off MSRP. Do not accept any dealer fees or add ons such as nitrogen. If you want things like bedliner or tint ask for price and compare to what doing it on your own would cost. Dealer gave me good deal on bedliner but I got tint on my own and beat the crap put of their price. Dealer offered me 15% off MSRP on a 2018 via email. I know it us not bottom. Watch for things like the worthless Toyota protection plans. Nice thing about mine is it had no add ons dealer or port. When they tried to add a dealer fee and I said take it off or I walk. Finance dudes are shady and know how to pick your pocket. Never trust one.
