Brand new Tundra iForce Max owner!! Traded in my Ford F-250 and much happier for it. Here is my question. When I am in Tow or Tow+ mode when pulling my 10,000 GVWR work trailer, I noticed my engine never stops, even when going down hill and foot off the gas pedal AND regardless of the speed I am doing. Does anyone know if that is how the system is set to operate? I haven't found anything online regarding that. Thanks

Custom bug spat pattern hood, grill & bumper. Dead Live Oak leaf collection under hood, cowl and lower fenders. Beach sand custom floor covering.
It should be well explained in your owners manual.

I don’t believe the gas engine is meant to turn off while in Tow/Tow+. My thoughts are that the engine needs to be running to use the engine braking and keep the speeds of the vehicle under load managed, even when going downhill. I do know the battery is still able to charge and regenerate energy from motion when the engine is running, in addition to charging from the engine itself.

Yes, as a fellow hybrid owner I can confirm that is how the system is set to operate.

Thats alot of weight for a 1/2 truck, is your truck rated to pull that much?

It pulls the trailer great. I find this truck pulls the trailer with ease and has as much squat (1 1/2") as my F-250 had. With that said, I have decided to get a WDH, seeing as the owners manual recommends the use.

@Retired...finally: I did find it in the owners manual but it is essentially a one sentence statement only. I did read the owners manual but missed that part.

@WhiteTundra0013: This is the primary reason I decided to switch to the Tundra. my requirement was to be able to pull the work trailer and I needed 4x4 based on where I live. I had planned to buy a new Ford but to get the same bells and whistles, (Lariat +), they wanted almost $7K more. The price of a new truck is already EXPENSIVE (to me).
