This might be obvious to some, but I thought I'd share my solution to a potential lost FOB, especially when traveling. It assumes you've already received your second FOB.

I ordered this magnetic key holder made by Gorilla. It's well made, waterproof, and the magnets are very strong. I will store the physical key only from my 2nd FOB in it, then hide it somewhere under the truck. The physical key will only unlock the doors, it will not start the engine. My 2nd FOB will remain inside my truck (turned off to conserve battery).

Stupid simple, I know, but there it is.

I always kept the spare key in the gas cap. No one pumps your fuel in Canada anymore.

I think the gas cap is probably one of the first places a thief would look.

Not that you're going to stop a thief, if he really wants your truck, but I don't want to make it easy for them.

The Tile Mate tracker is a good idea, but it wouldn't do you much good if you damaged or dropped your FOB over the side of your boat.

Plus, it only has a 250 foot range.

How do you turn it off when leaving in vehicle?

Good idea, would just add that the key tag code for your specific truck should stay at home in secure place. Wouldn't keep that with key under truck. Also with the app you can have truck unlocked remotely.

Good point.. I hadn't considered the key code tag.

I refuse to pay for the connected services subscriptions, so the app is no use to me.
