    Hello,

I was browsing the local dealer lot and saw this on a used 2021 TRD Pro. Can anyone identify a manufacturer so that I look up more information.

I'm guessing is some sort of aftermarket door unlock access-code?

Not aftermarket, exactly. It's a Southeast Toyota accessory.

Thanks... that also gives some insight to the history on this vehicle!

I only knew because somebody had found it and posted on the forum. I know some people from outside that region were ordering them, so you might want to run your vin here https://www.toyota.com/owners/my-vehicle/vehicle-specification to see what it came with from the dealer.

Oh... I don't own it. I was just browsing the lot on Sunday window shopping and saw it and was curious. As much I would like to have a PRO, the cost of entry these days exceeds my wallets capacity. :spending:

I looked at getting one of these for my Rav4 but I didn't like the location of this and that I would be staring at it all day and night while driving.

When I was shopping I saw a 2020 Limited with it. Not the best place to put it. No idea what Toyota was thinking.

I know I've said this before, but Ford's driver's side keypad entry remains, in my humble opinion, a killer, low-tech, low-cost feature. I used mine all the friggin' time since the cost of replacing a lost or damaged key FOB is just asinine. I've switched to using a hitch vault these days, but it blows in comparison. Not everything in life needs to be fancy pants. /rant

Will the newer trucks let you lock the doors with key fob inside? I know the number pad on our work trucks in the past saved our bacon when someone did the inevitable.

Not unless you turn your fob off. Otherwise it just beeps constantly and won't lock.

An additional thing to note here. You can take the fob with you when the truck is running and use the keypad to lock and unlock the doors. I find it useful for quick stops like grabbing take out orders or whatever.

Ah, good to know. Do you find the keypad location obtrusive while driving? I feel like I couldn't not see it.

At first I was annoyed by it, now I don't really notice it as much. I do wish it was stuck a little lower on the windshield.

Its not an option I would have gotten had I ordered my truck, but now that I have had it a while, I do find it useful on occasion.

In the attached photo... the Pro has the Num Pad. Do you think the accessory is worth $9K bucks :boink::rofl:

I installed this on my '17 and if you're able to find the numpad decal and feeling motivated, you can move it.

I had this on my list for a while. Ended up getting 12volts remote start with the app. Downloaded the app to my Apple Watch. Now I tell my gf Im James Bond everytime I start and unlock my truck. I live for the eye rolls.
