    LONG POST LONG POST
Hey everybody, so after doing much research, I was going to have the Bilstein 6112/5160 setup for my truck...ive heard some problems with them leaking at an early stage...so instead of buying them over and over, I was just gonna BUY ONCE CRY ONCE.

I know the stage 9 is huge but I would like to have complete control of the suspension system.I really like how they are rebuildable as well. I talked to toytec for like an hour and they were very helpful. They were very detailed in the process and explained it to me wonderfully.

Reason im trying to get some help is that I have the Method NV 18x9 +25 offset/6 Backspace and they were saying that I might come really close to the UCA's with that setup if I put 35/12.5r18 tires on there...originally I was gonna have 295/75r18 for the truck but if im gonna buy this system im sure as hell going to use it and make sure it looks good too lol

I also saw that people are having a hard time aligning the truck with their control arms...anybody know of that?

Can anyone chime in on this and help a brother out? Ive been searching and searching and not a lot of ppl are running this setup with the ICONs

That is one hell of a step up! I have the Icon tubular UCA's, those are the ones that people have issues with alignment since they are a little shorter in length and have the joint in a different position than other aftermarket UCAs. the billet UCA with the adjustable heim joints will allow for proper alignment. You did not want the 3.0 coilovers? If you are patient, you can catch up to a 20% off sale on Icons, which is when I got mine a few years ago.
There are a ton of people running 35s on a Method 18" +18 or +25 wheel. I have +18 wheels with 295/70/18, will be going 35s next.

damn your 1794 looks hella nice! thank you for replying sir. yeah my main concern is rubbing on the upper control arms...toytec told me that I might be rubbing on the new uca so im just reaching for help. on their site the rec. backspace is 5.75 and they said the more the better. so you're saying if I put the 35's tires it won't be rubbing on the upper control arms? reason is that they are up their in cost so I just don't wanna tire that rubs on it if you know what I mean

I have about 2 inches of space between the tire and UCA.

that's a good bit of space, just saw on 88rotors on youtube and they had a 2012 with 35's with the same wheel set up that I have. it looks good and the only rubbing they had was the skid plate and of course the BMC. Thanks for the help man! now im really looking forward to it.

Are you getting the tubular or the billet. That’s what I’m running and I have icon rebounds which is +25 offset and I have the billet UCAs. There is plenty of room between the uca and tire. I’m also running 315/70/17 falken wild peaks. Let me know any questions

I have honestly seen more stories of Icons leaking and/or needing to be rebuilt with less than 20k miles. I cannot recall ever seeing premature failures on Bilsteins. But it’s your money.

this is what I have as well. I recall the Icon install instructions states to not exceed 2" of thread.

@Alexstundra I was reading a thread about that last night and they were saying that people were not getting the advertised lift. I have the 58750 but was doing research and is it a 600lb spring or a 700lb spring? I've been trying to look but could not find it anywhere

and then I also read that someone got like 3.5 in out of it.. so I'm a little lost and kinda need to know where to set springs up. @Cfincke are you going to adjust it higher when you put the 35's on?

I had icons on my 2010 for a rough 50k miles and no issues. Put bilstein 6112 on my 2018 and one of the front ones was leaking in less than 6 months. I’ve also talked to both, and bilstein’s customer service was horrible while icon was helpful.

Each person has their own experiences.

I am leaving them alone, I have clearance with the UCA and I have done a body mount chop. When I first installed i have 2.25" of thread on the driver and 2" on the passenger. When I lowered the coilovers the ride improved and was not as hard.

They come with 600. They said they haven’t had a problem with 600 lb springs and a steel bumper with winch but I still insisted on 700 lb springs. I fit 35s the way they came set. But I raised it a little bc I have a lot of rake with the icon rxt pack. Probably 2-2.5” rake with the way it’s set now and totally empty. Which is what I wanted because I put a lot of weight in the bed. And you can hit stuff pretty damn hard with these. And you smile a lot. It is a little rough unloaded and small bumps at slow speeds

I have RevTek block spacers on my Tundra - 2.5" front/1.23" rear. I just got the Icon Rebounds 17x8.5 and the Falken Wilkpeaks at 315/70/r17 +25 also. The tires and wheels look pretty cool on the truck. Spent half a day molding the front wheel for more space. Then figure you can unbolt it, push it forward, and drill a new hole to hold it in place. It's about 1" you make available. (if I had to do it again, I'd wait for the tires and get the lift first. But I listened to the tire place and ordered them first).

Still slightly rubbing on rear frame, but not rubbing on the skid plate.

I'm getting a Icon Stage 9 with tubular UCA in a few weeks (Icon is backed up for about two months). I'm hoping with the extra space it'll help.

I didn't think about the spring rate for the DV8 bumper I'm putting on later. It's about 160 pounds. I may need to speak to the installer about upgrading to 700. I told them I'm installing the fab bumper later, but they said it should be fine.

I don't just want to put that bumper on and lose that height. Anyone with a DV8 bumper and the 600 spring rate?

With what you know about the performance of the 700 with a steel bumper, would you have gone with the 600?

It’s hard to tell honestly because I never had the 600lb spring installed. Well I had it with my stock shocks with a spacer which I will say did not ride well by any means. I would say if I didn’t have a winch it wouldn’t be necessary. So if your not going to get a winch it should be a 600 lb spring. And if you are getting a winch with bumper 700lb spring
Might perform better. Just My opinion

Do you know what company the 700 spring came from? I don't see any on Icon's site.

Have you had any issues with your Icons?

    Thanks!
