I think my check engine light was disconnected for the sale

I’ve had my tundra for a few weeks now, I’ve replace the air filter, new plugs and upstream 02 sensors. Just to be safe. Today I hooked up my new mini ultra gauge and the alarm went showing a P0016 code. I hooked up my code reader and I also got a P0018 code. But the check engine light has not come on. I noticed it doesn’t come on when you turn on the ignition also. So I’m thinking the previous owner disabled it for the sale. I also pulled the right timing belt cover to check the belt, seems ok, with a little wear.

Darn. That’s too bad. If it was a dealer I’d take it back and make him pay me.

That light can be temporarily reset, may be what happened. It comes back on in 50 or 100 miles or something if the problem’s still there.

It's easy to pull the gauges and replace the bulbs.

Definitely sound alike it's been pulled or burnt out. When I was an inspector, we always checked functionality of the CEL by watching all the dash lights come on with the key turn without starting the engine, specifically for this reason

Hopefully it's not even the sensor, just a wire is nicked or something easy to repair.

It's an 06. That means it's an LED soldered to the circuit board right?

I was under the impression that was only the gauge lights, but I could be wrong.
