I had an accident this weekend in my Tundra. Insurance company says without seeing it, they are really going to try to repair it. Seems like a lot of damage. Just curious on opinions here. Do you think they will repair or total it? Signed, a very sad TRD owner.

Ouch, that sucks. Given the current market, I bet they’ll fix it.

    Everyone okay?

    Sorry OP.

idk, I've seen worse that were not totaled. A lot of variables to account for to say for sure. I hope it isn't though.

Thank you all. I know this is a tough call. Hard to say for sure. It's my dream truck I ordered new and added the upgrades but given there were NO injuries in either vehicle including my seven year old daughter in the back seat driver side. I'm SO thankful the other truck hit my door. I've got sore ribs but other than that, we all walked away without a scratch. I'm torn on totaling or fixing. I tend to hope they total as I don't want to have a door that doesn't shut correctly in the future or all those weird rattles that may start to show up. :)

To be honest, it looks bad but I don’t think it is. The frame will be the deciding factor on the side impact.

Doors, fender, grille & surround, headlight assembly, bumper, rocker…

16-18k in repairs is my guess.

Glad to hear everyone walked away.

I remember when we talked with our broker, she mentioned that air bag deployment = totaled. Dunno if it's the same for you.

Not sure with the air bag deployed. Sorry to hear about this. I had to slightly less horrific ones in two years with my 2015 and it’s as good as new. I hope you have a very good shop in mind to fix that stuff

Ouch! Glad everyone's OK! In today's market, they're going to try their best to fix it. Hopefully there's no frame damage.

Yep, repair unless there's significant frame damage. If it was 10 years older, maybe not.

I dropped mine off today for a much lighter hit in the same place. Luckily my damage stops at the driver door and the airbag didn't deploy. The shop estimate for just that clip is over 4k for single parts not counting the actual cost of stuff like headlights and flares that have to be purchased as sets. I don't have the sensors or anything in the bumper either. If you use an in network repair place, at least with state farm, they guarantee the work, so you can take it back if the door feels off or a rattle develops. In my area they say they aren't too backed up on Toyota parts. Accident was Dec 21, in the shop today Feb 7 and they estimate two weeks.

My guess is that they will try to fix your truck but it will be a close call.

If they fix don’t forget to file a diminished value claim. Do not take the 1st or second offer, probably have to hire an attorney but you will get more than you spend.

Hope everyone is alright. With the air bags deployed it is a 50/50 dealy. Best of luck to ya either way it goes. If they total it make sure they pay you and then add on market adjustment, if they fix it find someone that does the diminished value and send that to the person responsible insurance company.

very sorry that has happened and again best of luck

Glad everyone is okay! With current value, repair is likely. The problem nobody has mentioned is there are many body shops having difficulties getting parts. Even some used parts are getting more scarce. In some cases cars are being driven temporarily with some damages until parts arrive. Good luck!!!

Thank you for this. Can you elaborate on finding someone that does the diminished value? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm not sure what this means.

Never mind. A simple google answered my question. In other words, get the vehicle repaired as well as get the diminished value paid out. That makes sense. Sadly I wasn't aware this could be done. Thanks for the insight!

I’ve been driving my 21 crew damaged since 11\20. They got most of the parts Friday, still waiting on more. My truck is so new it can’t use aftermarket.

no question it'd come in under that. i'm not sure how it works elsewhere but where i live if the estimated repair cost creeps up to 55% of the adjusted deemed value of the vehicle she's written off.

Make sure the other driver has enough collision coverage. The guy who hit me had the minimum 10k and my repairs are more so I had to use my own collision insurance. Absolute scam letting people carry minimum coverage. Now I have to file the dismissed with my insurance also.

Whoever told you they have to buy headlights in sets is full of ish.
Where I’m at, that figure is usually 75-80%.
