My wife and I took a trip to Yuma AZ this weekend to see where he dad was stationed during WWII. Saturday morning I decided to drive out to Glamis to see the Dunes. I have seen dunes by lake MI. and in Hurricane UT but WOW, Glaims are some DUNES!

I stopped at one one of the parking / camping areas to take pics and I asked a guy there if it takes a lot of power to run the dunes. He asked me if I wanted a ride in his 2 seat RzR R so I of course said "hell yeah".

He was pretty easy on me but we did a couple of small jumps and went around several bowls and up the sand mountains. I rode some motocross when younger, but this was a whole different world. The distances out there are so deceiving. The people that ride out there are mostly pretty good folks and enjoy sharing what they do. He of course offered my wife a ride too and she was smiling the whole day after that.

I would love to get a SxS but they aren't cheap and since I am still working it would sit 95% of the year.

When my brother lived in San Diego, I went out to visit him and we drove over to the Glamis dunes for an overnight camp and some ATV fun. He had a Honda ATC 250R (paddled out 2stroke racing 3wheeler) that was an absolute blast to rip around. The dunes are vastly incredible and I felt like I was on another planet!

I have ridden ATCs, ATVs, RZRs, and dirt bikes my whole life. Just when thought I was ripping around pretty fast, a heavily modified Sand Rail came hauling ass at what seemed like a 100mph and sent a double jump to the moon over a bowl and down the other side. It was further than I had ever seen or thought was ever possible!!! He just kept going like it was nothing. I was amazed.

Camping in the dunes was interesting as my brother had warned me about the scorpions. I didn't think much about it until I woke up at 3am to the sound of them crawling around on my tent!!! F'n spooky shit for sure!
Still one of the most beautiful places I have visited, and hope I get the chance to bring my kids there one day.
