I need HELP. Starting issue

i have a 2017 Tundra. I installed the TRD dual exhaust and TRD CAI and ever since that when I go to start the truck it turns over but gives one quick hesitation and then runs perfect.
This morning however when I turned the key it just kept cranking. I pulled the key quick and tried it again. Same thing.
On the third try I gave it gas and it fired right off.
WTF? Anyone ever run into this issue? Only started with the above mods.
Does it need a reprogram or something?
Any help would be appreciated.

 

Check to make sure the air flow meter is installed ok.

 

Shot in the dark, but check your maf to make sure its seated properly and connection is solid.

 

I wonder if the filter was over oiled.
Besides with the other guys suggested if that doesn’t work try cleaning the MAF with some specific MAF cleaner. Also you might want to try disconnecting the battery so it can reset and re-learn sooner.

 

That's a possibility too. It comes oiled from the factory, so if any more oil was added, that could be the culprit.

 

I have same mods and has done that to me at least 5 times in the past 7 yrs ......my buddy works at toyota and said to make sure throttle body is clean so I usually clean it once a year now but the truck does start when that happens you just have to give it gas when it's cranking and will start right up

 

I haven’t added any more oil. Air flow meter?
Not sure I’m aware of that one?

I’ll check everything from above and report back. Truck only has 8000 on it. Appreciate all the responses.

 

Mass Air Flow Sensor - its on the tube between the air box and the throttle body.

 

Yep, thanks. Guess I’ve only referred to it as a MAF but I should have put two and two together! I’ll get there..

 

Make sure the MAF is oriented the right direction. Check for goo from filter on throttle body, make sure MAF sensor is connected solid. Disconnect Negative and let it sit about 30 minutes, reconnect, try again. Just FYI, and this is purely IMO. But, the stock air and exhaust is the way to go. This is after wasting a bunch of money.

 

Thanks. I’ll try all of this. How do you know if the MAF is orientated right? I love the sound over stock but I hear what you are saying. I told myself that this truck for the first time was going to stay stock and it didn’t happen. Lol
