So here's the story: "Judy", my faithful 2016, just hit 243,000 miles and is growing by about 30,000/year. I have six years until retirement, so that means she'll be up to about 420,000 miles by the time I turn 62.

That's all well and good, but I am determined to drive a 5.7 Tundra until I leave this world. And I don't want to be driving a truck with half a million miles on it when I'm 80 years old.

Enter "Trixie". She's a 2021 with only 18,000 miles on the clock. She will live a quiet life in the shade under a carport and be driven only on weekends until I retire. "Judy" will remain my daily driver and company vehicle until then.

Y'all say hi to Trixie the Tundra! And don't make fun of her shoes, she's a little insecure about them. She'll be getting some nice new ones soon. ;)

    Welcome to this exclusive club.

My '08 is sporting 220k miles. Runs amazing!

I just picked up a '21 with 13k miles at auction.

I love the 5.7 and will be running one as long as I can.

Im a bit younger than you, but hope to be running this new rig for the next 15 years.

I may snag another 2.5 Tundra in Florida with 1800 miles on it. The dealership is playing hard to get and I am not willing to make his money. The way I look at it is like getting 2 x 2,5 gen for the price of a shitty 3rd gen which runs around $75K + which is INSANE

The dealers here don't budge. I paid 40K out the door. I guess that's fair in today's market though.

Double trouble club here as well. A best Gen and a Turd Gen. The key is to currently own them both. My 2000 was just too good to get rid of even though I needed something with better towing capacity for the new camper. So I kept it. My son is currently driving it daily until he replaces his recently departed Mustang.

Nice addition! I'm sure it's nice to have a backup to follow the first truck when it's time. I always cringe at truck names and the humanization of a vehicle but to each their own.

    Hello Judy and Trixie!
    :101010:

I was a little ahead of you on the retirement timeline so when I heard the 5.7 liter was being discontinued, my grandson (7 years old) and I were on a mission to get grandpa a new 2021 Tundra! My thought was that the 2021 will be the last vehicle I buy and I wanted that V8!

When I bought the Tundra there was ample supply of trucks in the Dealership lots. Below are a few pictures of 3 trucks available in the lot at Toyota in Sanford NC at the time, along with 2 window stickers (VooDoo blue and MGM). My grandson wanted me to buy the VooDoo blue, but the MGM rhode and handled better for the win!

Given your retirement timeline, I concur with your solution to the problem. EXCELLENT idea!!!

You aren't kidding, especially the Toyota dealers with their add ons. I bought mine used from a Ford Dealer.

I agree!! What's that color called, Sexy Silver Metallic?

I was a member of this club but only briefly. Do I have to resign my membership?

I loved my '00 and it served me well, but try as I might I just couldn't justify keeping both.
