Does anyone know which wires sense the doors opening?

Other than using butt splices instead of Positaps these are the instructions I used when I installed my steps. I see that you drive an 03 and these directions list 2007 as the earliest year but including the link anyway as maybe it'll help. Good luck on getting it figured out as they are a great product.

I finished my install no thanks to the lack of intelligent prints from the supplier. They must have gotten rid of the one man that could include up to date wire connections. I retired after 40 years as an electrician, that became my handicap when they never included any prints or even the mention of where these connectors might be located on a new Tundra. Watch out for ANY wires that might wind up getting caught in the risers. I also used sheet metal screws to secure the motor covers. Worked like a charm. Any other questions I will try to answer but be specific, please.

    A few tips...
Put the boards on the brackets right before you put the fuse in to check operation, not early in the process per the instructions. You're doing most of the work in that area and they're in the way.
Paint the holes you drill for the LED grommets. Don't try to drill through a spot weld.
Put some RTV on the motor covers when installing.
