@jberry813 - I've seen your name thrown around, I'd gladly accept your opinion on suspension mods for my truck. I live in Colorado, wouldn't be doing the desert stuff much if ever, mostly 4x4 trails on the way to a camp spot. If an open trail presented itself, I'd love to push it a bit, but that's if and when. If this is the wrong thread, my apologies, this is my first post.

I thought I wanted LT, after reading your comments here and another post, I'm absolutely clueless. I like the look of a truck that sits a bit higher, but I want form and function. Are the downsides you mention mitigated if I'm not in the dirt every weekend with a LT? Anyone else's opinions welcome - I'd appreciate setup suggestions.

    Thanks

Welcome Jeff from Parker Colorado. Doesn’t sound like you need a LT suspension since you won’t desert running. Or doing gnarly jumps. Based on your needs I would go with a @ToyTec Lifts Boss kit or if you want to spend more $ Kings of Icons.

You flunked suspension school, but at least you went. I didn’t even attend LOL

Real experts will chime in soon.

I’m a King hooker, but I also use my vehicle differently than you might.

I will give ToyTec another bump. All around damn good products and from what I seen, top notch service after the sale.

If you do decide on King Shocks, go to Filthy Motorsports in Denver. Have some time when ordering, they will be asking you a series of questions for valving..etc.

Another King whore here. I like to be able to revalue and rebuild my shocks to my liking.
As others have said, LT doesn't sound like the right choice considering your terrain and requests. I would just get some quality coilovers/shocks and pair it with an aftermarket UCA like Total Chaos.

So do you get added articulation from a coilover set-up? Some of the trails I’d like to hit have some nice rock sections, not crawler style, but not for the daily driver either. I guess I’m confused between “coilover”, and lift - I thought they were the same thing. I was looking at the BDS 4 1/2” coilover lift, but it sounds like there’s a piece I’m not getting. If adding coilover suspension gets rid of the factory rake, and adds some articulation, that’s what I need. What about rear?

Tundras come with coilovers instead of struts. You would just be upgrading these with bigger and better giving you the lift.

    Welcome!

Ok so where are you in Colorado?

If you are looking for a professional opinion, give @ToyTec Lifts a call on Monday or stop by their shop in Denver, ask for David. He can answer all of your questions and a little know secret is that toytec, though they do make their own lift, they also operate as a 4wheel parts store. They sell icon, Fox and all the other big brands.

Toytec is a Colorado based company, and I am biased on supporting local businesses

I’m only about 15 minutes from their new location - I’ve looked at the Toytec Boss lift previously. Someone was trying to steer me to a BDS coilover lift (4.5”), I don’t know enough about all the components and requirements of different heights. And with the price difference, I actually want to know if I’m getting anything for my money - too many other fun parts to be wasting money!!

Thanks for all the suggestions all, appreciate the knowledge!

    Fair enough.

The boss will bolt on 100% it only changes parts, such as the front stock coil overs, with better parts. The bds kit has what is known as a drop knuckle, which m and it’s the stock coil over but the distance here the knuckle mounts to the knuckle is higher. You also have to modify quite a bit that become irreversible after installation(you have to cut part of the stock crossmeber off and then bold the new cross member to it.)

Thanks for all the love here guys!!! We really appreciate it, now KING's are the cream of the crop when it comes to suspension but honestly you have to take a step back and see if you really are going to use the truck as such. We do offer a WIDE variety of suspension that will fall perfectly into what you are going to be doing.

Shoot me a message or phone call any time and we will be more than happy to help out any way we can!

    Thanks again @Thegr8punkin, @TundraTss, @TheBeast, and @COMiamiFan
