I can't figure out where my front bumper is.

Not that it's missing but when pulling in a parking space to where I think I should have done at least a thousand dollars in damage to the car ahead, I still have about 18" to go. The front parking assist isn't much help either. Thinking of adding a camera in the grill. Or maybe I'm too much of a girlie maan and should just get a Prius.:angrygirl:

I'd like to mount some semi flexible upright rods on the front corners so I could put something really irritating on the tops. Squirrel tails, bobbleheads etc.:boink:;)

After finding that the camera will fit in my SR5 grill without looking much like a nose wart I ordered the kit. Hopefully there's no shortages and it will ship today.

    Pretty things
Take a journey to the parts yard to find cool 90s cars with electric, telescoping, antenna aerials (2)

Drill some holes in the front bumper corners to install the antennae (mounting behind the lower bumper)

Wire to a switch in the cab to activate

Post pictures on the interwebz in order to attain glory.

    I feel you on this.

Another less common feature that all trucks should have standard since the invention of the backup camera.

I am also considering this myself.

However, driving a truck it is usually best to back into parking whenever possible.
The only time I pull head in is when I need bed access and the available parking does not facilitate this.

I also tend to be that guy that double parks way out in the back of the lot pretty often.
This is because 99% of parking spaces where I live and go are barely big enough for cars, let alone trucks.
I hate door dings on my ride, and I have Amp powersteps so I am exposed to every jackass out there.

Wife says I need the exorcise anyway lol.

I don't use my bed as much as others, but it varies with the seasons for me.

i wish there were more of you out there. where i'm from if a person doesn't know where their vehicle starts and and ends they seem to just resort to the "go til she bumps and adjust after" technique. lol

Ha! I wasn't only like this. Years ago I had a SAAB 99 that I drove for work. I knew exactly where that front bumper was and could reliability pull up within a couple of inches from the back bumper of my other car parked on the street. Well, when I got the new '87 SAAB 900 I found out the hard way the new car was just a few inches longer and when bringing it home thumped my other car with authority.

You're not the only one. That hood is so SHORT (but so high) that I'm always underestimating how close I am. I'm going to get a camera kit, and I don't give a damn what anyone else thinks about it. ;) But there's NFW I'm getting a Pious.

And I frequently have to park head in because I do have stuff (like a tool kit and a big bag of cabling) that I have to bring in with me when I get to a job. And since my worksites are all police stations... I'd rather not look like an idiot when parking. :D

I did get the kit installed here at the campground. Everything went well except the camera didn't work after pulling the extension cable through the firewall grommet. I didn't think any unnecessary force was required to pull it through but obviously enough to break one of the conductors. Amazon to the rescue and another camera and cable came yesterday. Brian from Anytime backup was helpful and I don't hold him responsible for the cable problem. Since these cameras will work on my home security system I'll see about getting another cable and using the spare at home.
This really is a nice addition to the Tundra. I'm very pleased. Just go very easy pulling the cable through the firewall as it is subject to being pulled apart.

That's how I ruined my old Tundras bumper and cracked the plastic junk bumper turning into a concrete pillar in a parking garage. Dang felt I stupid and swore never to park 6 am in a parking garage without having coffee first. Not sure if a front camera in a grill would solve the lack of judgement.

As a noob truck owner, I've felt this same way when pulling into the few parking spaces I've been brave enough to attempt so far. Further, I came across this article this morning and a couple of related items (tweet, video) referring to the large blind spot that taller vehicles have, and it got me thinking that a front-facing camera in the grill would be very helpful for parking and safety reasons. -- Since my 2014 Tundra Limited is still pretty much stock, I wondered about trying to do a mod to replace the stereo / display screen and adding a front-grille camera and a front-facing driving recorder at the same time. Other than the kit shown earlier in this thread, has anyone else had experience installing a front-facing camera with an upgraded stereo / display?
