I’m so done with RealTruck. Need a new tonneau.

When it was Bak, it was awesome. Loved my MX4. Somewhere along the line though, I needed a warranty repair. Bak had sold to @RealTruck , and they approved the dealer (Campway San Jose) to do a replacement under warranty. The quality under RealTruck’s manufacturing though is terrible. The warrantied replacement needs to be replaced also. It leaks - a LOT. Stripping buckles and sieves water. Big gaps between the cover and the frame. The latching isn’t working well.

But what’s worse than their quality is their customer support. The dealer put in a request in March — MARCH!! — and despite multiple follow ups, no response from Real other than they have a backlog of requests. Here we are five months later…

I’m done. Any tips on how to get through to them? Or do I have to drop a small claims suit?

Unfortunately you summed it up with them. Their customer service is a joke as is their products now. It’s a shame because Bak use to be a great product.

    I feel your pain because I own a 1k paper weight too…

This isn’t very encouraging so far :(
Was hoping I’d be an outlier. Guess not.

if I can’t get anywhere with their warranty, I’ll small claims for the $1200 or so I spent on the MX4 and replace it with something better from a company who’ll actually stand behind their products. Any thoughts on alternatives? I really like the three paneled design.

As others have said, Go with DiamondBack. The quality is second to none. I am 6'2" and 265 lb, and I stand on my DiamondBack and wash the cab roof and back window of my Tundra all the time. Also, I have not had a drop of moisture leak into the bed of the truck. It has not faded in the hot Texas sun either. It may cost a little more, but worth every dollar!

I'm truly sorry to hear that you're having a hard time getting a claim looked at through our team at BAK Industries. These processes should never go on this long, and I completely understand why you're frustrated- that's an insane amount of time to go without an answer.

I'm here in the forum to make sure that this group is taken care of. I'd be more than happy to take a closer look at this and see what we can do to get things moving. PM me with your info when you have a chance, and we'll go from there.

I bought several items from Realtruck and their customer service was great to deal with and did some price matching for me over the phone multiple times. Zero complaints!

I would never buy another Realtruck cover. I’m on my third warranty replacement. The latches are junk and they leak everywhere. The rubber seals are terrible.
