    Hi friends,
I’ve picked up a set of Icon 2” x 2” rear hydro bump stops. Looking to see if anyone has experience with these and has a solid guess on starting pressure.

Deaver U748 packs with ADS 2.5” smoothie shocks.

I don’t wheel it hard. It’s my daily, and gets the occasional rally round. I tossed out my rubber bumps when I installed airbags over my factory leaf packs. I left the bags in when I put in the Deavers, but have found that I very rarely put any air in them since going to good springs. I just want to try without bags to see if the rear works a bit better without their reactive nature.

I know that the pressure will get fine tuned till I alllmoooossssst bottom out the bumps on the hardest hit I’ll take. My gut tells me that 60 psi is going to be a decent starting point.

    thoughts?

The range on those bumps are 50-250 psi. (I would verify)

I have my King bumps at 325 psi.

Agreed from what I’ve seen 50-250. Can’t remember what mine are at. Now I’ll have to check lol

I’d seen that article before. Good read and it really did a nice job of explaining how these damn things actually work!

Bumps are scheduled to arrive next Tuesday, according to FedEx…. I’ll hang tight and see what other responses I get!

They’re easy enough to adjust, but I need to go to a buddy’s place for the nitrogen setup. It’s not bad, just inconvenient to coordinate and we wind up drinking all the beer every time…

Also, if anyone else is looking for hydraulic bump stops, I’ve spotted the Icon 2” travel kit with Tundra mounts and strike plates on Amazon for $799 and Walmart dot com (of all places?) for $749. Retail on this kit is ~$950.

I will report back after I open the box to confirm it’s all correct.

I struggled a bit to choose a kit. I love my ADS gear and their customer support. I don’t like that their tubes are not a standard diameter. Mount style is very similar to the Icons. I didn’t like the new stubby Kings. No real good reason, just don’t like the threaded cans with jam nuts on a bump…. Pretty much left the Icons as a good candidate and at a $200 savings from the others.

Well, there is a lot of information on there, but not really anything related to my specific question. More of a product data sheet than any type of setup advice...

I'm guessing it should be pretty simple. I'll start at 60# and go hit some shit. If I use all of the stroke, I'll increase pressure. Repeat till I use most of the stroke.

    • Operating range of 50 – 250 PSI
      2. YOUR ICON BUMP STOP ASSEMBLIES COME FACTORY CHARGED TO 150 PSI. PLEASE CONSULT ICON PRIOR TO MAKING ANY NITROGEN PRESSURE CHANGES.
This is what I found. It wouldn't hurt to reach out to the manufacturer and see what they suggest for your specific setup. They can probably at least give you a starting point and adjust from there. But testing out on your own will work too.

Put together a nitrogen setup, all you need is a chuck, hose rated to like 600psi, a regulator, and then just buy the smallest tank at the welding store (or you can get tanks cheap online and then just swap it in which is what I did). Having to go to your buddies place just to adjust the bump or your other shocks is a pain in the ass, and besides the tank everything else is sub-$100 that you need.

150psi is a good starting point imo. I usually run my bumps pretty high since if I'm getting into them then I really want that last 2"-4" to slow me down. Though all depends on the terrain, your driving, how much up travel you have, etc.

I like this. Thanks for the input. Helpful!

although if I buy my own gear, it’ll do three things. I’ll drink all of my own beer, I’ll never need to make another adjustment, and my other friends will come use my shit and drink my beer.

Ok! I’m not a fan of Walmart, but for $200 under msrp and in my hands 5 days after I clicked to buy, I can’t reply bitch.

Haven’t mounted them yet, but they look like they’re correct. Might toss them in tomorrow evening. Will report back.

Ok. Took a solid three weeks to get the motivation to put these in, mostly because I wanted to use my buddy’s lift…. Glad I did. We beat the ever livin’ fuck out of the rivets to get the old brackets off…. Would have seriously brought the suck if I did it in the driveway.

I’ll see how they do when it’s not foggy as shit here. Should be able to hit some sweet jumps or something.
