I have an old 2000 Honda Insight with IMA battery. OEM was 6 kw, recently replaced with aftermarket 8 kw. Definitely gives a little more oomph and lasts longer under full assist than stock. It's not that big and weighs maybe 60 lbs. I can lift it by myself. So if you floor a hybrid Tundra do you get just 5-10 seconds of assist or? Just seems like they put a lot of $ and effort into a nice assist but handicapped it with a tiny battery. When towing it seems it would deplete on the first real hill...

I can't argue with your points. I wish the battery was bigger, electric motor stronger etc...

However, there's a specific purpose for the battery in the current Tundra. The purpose is to help truck off the line to improve fuel economy and give more power. Toyota feels that amount of battery that was given is sufficient to achieve their set goal.

They believe a bigger battery would just make the truck heavier and take up more space, and isn't necessarily for the their current goal.

Hopefully they'll surprise us in the future and expand on the hybrid or ev function of Tundra

If it was pluggin hybrid with ~30+ miles of range I would have gone that route. The existing hybrid setup is so underwhelming I just went for the gasser.
