I bought my 2024 Limited I-Max last December. One thing I'm curious about, is the hybrid motor used to start the gas engine? I hear no starter gear engaging and it just starts.

Correct, hybrid motor starts the engine except after a fill-up. Opening the gas door triggers the 12V traditional starter motor.
