Changed the diff oil in my Hybrid a week ago. Drained about 6qt, 6 oz out of it. I read where the hybrid diff is 10.5 ring vs 9.5 for not hybrid. Manual does not state a capacity difference.

It came out darkish brown, nothing on the magnet. All good. It did take well over 6qt to fill. Vehicle was close to level.

Anyone know the stated capacity? I used Redline 75w85.

Here is the tip - pick up one of these pumps on Amazon. 1oz per stroke vs 4-8cc on the typical pumps. I used a old naglene like bottle and drilled hole in top for pump.

Good job changing the fluid Toyota is giving their diffs a large capacity to help handle all that power...lol

There are 4 total capacities based on the two powertrains and whether or not you have the Electronic Differential Lock...

Without Differential Lock - 6.01 to 6.10 qts

    Non-Hybrid Model
With Differential Lock - 5.60 to 5.69 qts.
Without Differential Lock - 5.68 to 5.78 qts.

    Front Differential Capacity
    1.12 to 1.32 qts

    Front Differential Drain/Filler Plug Torque
    29 ft.-lbs.

    Rear Differential Drain/Filler Plug Torque
    36 ft.-lbs.

Some of the gear oils like Amsoil come in those Capri sun like squeeze bottles now, which make changing those fluids a breeze as an alternative to pumping it in.

Lil tip...always crack open the fill plug first, then drain it. If for whatever reason the fill plug is seized, you wont be able to fill it up if you drained it first.

@ryanwgregg Is there a gasket on the diff cover? I've always used yamabond there but curious if toyota used one or not.
