Are these able to be rebuilt? Works fine other than it's noisy, seems like a waste to junk an otherwise fine unit?

I could definitely try it, see if it improves anything. It all feels tight (i.e. no discernable wobble), so I'm hoping to maybe just keep it, do a refurb on it and if I ever need it again...I've got one ready to go.

You'll have to remove the plastic fan without breaking it. Otherwise you can't get to the bearings which is what is making the noise. If you have a spare and don't mind it never working again I say go for it.

I'm pretty good at repairing electric motors and such, and It's not worth it. You can't get the blade off the shaft with damaging it. I bought one from autozone I believe and it's been going strong for 1.5yrs. Lifetime warranty too

Figured as much...such a waste for something that *should* be simple to fix. Guess I'll throw it in my misc parts box for now until/if I ever need it. So far the AMZ one seems to be working pretty well...quiet and blows strong!
