Woo hoo! Blower motor showed up today. Was ordered back on 8/10/24 from Serra Toyota. There is a metal clip on one of the blades that aligns with a mark on the inner base. Is there a point to having the clip on there or can it be removed? Wondering if that has something to do with balancing it?

edit: after a quick google search seems like it is there for balancing. I’ll leave it alone and install it as-is.

I ordered on 8/17, and on the 22nd, they said late next week. Now it's five more days. Luckily, I don't need it.

No, the veh in the video isn't a toy but the principles are all the same.

    https://youtu.be/4XoCShDJPMk?si=3Yd7T9UnQm-z6Jb2

He refers to a cleaning agent as "ol 99". He's talking about straight isopropyl alcohol.

I'm wondering if removal of the tundra squirrel cage and replacing it onto the new LC fan motor wouldn't allow for a few more CFMs? Is it pressed on and aint never coming off or is it secured with a clip?

Anyway checking McGeorge/Ourisman wasn't awful but I'm not seeing it at the prices you boys are

$140 for the LC and $127 for the tundra

Ordered through World Toyota on 8/21. Never heard anything. Mentioned it in another thread, and @Tripleconpanna gave me an email address for the guy who does all their online orders.

Sent him an email, and he said he’s sorry it was listed as in-stock but they had to order it and don’t know when it will be in. He said I must’ve ordered when there was 1 in stock but it sold and wasn’t yet processed before I ordered.

I’m not in a hurry, but man I hate it when I order something “in stock” and it’s not at all.

Seems to be a common thing these days. I'm waiting on an airflow accelerator myself.

Did you get a noticeable increase in airflow from the rear AC?

I’m currently running an OEM filter, but good call. I’m also curious to hear if a different filter would change the airflow at all.

At the dealership right now getting my oil changed and plan to install the new blower motor later today when I get back home.

Can you do a before and after check on your rear AC vents? I'm hoping to get more airflow to the rear vents in my DC.

Sure, I’ll swap in the blower first and then check airflow with OEM cabin filter then swap to the K&N and see if there is a difference. It won’t be scientific, but I’ll try to see if it feels any different.

Blower motor upgrade is complete. As others mentioned, I also noticed the more gradual increase/decrease in speed when adjusting the fan speed. Plug and play install that took maybe 15 minutes total including gathering tools and cleanup. 1/4 inch ratchet with 8mm socket made quick work of it. Either something was wrong with my old blower (besides the loud bearings) or this new one is just that much better, but I can definitely feel more air coming through the vents no doubt. After the install I swapped the OEM cabin filter with the K&N model VF2000. To be honest, I didn’t really notice a difference in airflow from changing the filter to the K&N. If there is a difference more or less flow it was negligible either way. Overall very happy with the blower swap and it leads me to believe my old one wasn’t truly blowing as it should, maybe an issue with the resistor? Who knows.

Is this worth doing for the lowly poverty SR5 manual climate control? Mines not loud, cools/heats just fine, and goes through the fan speeds nice and gradual...

I'll let you know. I'd imagine that probably puttin a new cabin filter in will give you more of an increase in airflow than the blower motor.

I'm hoping i get a little more airflow in the mid levels. I also had a rat get into the cabin filter and i cleaned it out well, but didn't pull the fan....be interesting to see if there's any rememants.

I have the k&n and the blower upgrade. I think it produces more air flow. But have absolutely no measurable proof for my claims

Yes, back seems to get better flow now. Wouldn't say it will blow your hair back, but it seems to have better volume.
