So there was a ad on a local listing about a 2010 tundra part out . I was interested in a seat and a few other things but ended up buying this odometer and a brake booster and he gave me a bunch of other stuff . How would I go abput testing this to see if it works properly ? Would it mess my truck up if I were to test it on mine ? I took it apart and cleaned it .

I wouldn't know of any other way to test it than to swap it out and go for it. Of course if the connectors are different then it's a no-go. I've done instrument cluster swaps on 2 of my other vehicles before with no problems....

Something else to think of - I think you have to have the dealer set the mileage on the “new” one and get it certified or your truck becomes a salvage title. It’s to stop people from having high miles then switching the cluster to a low mileage one. If you don’t ever plan on selling don’t worry about it though.

I think you just swap them, the mileage comes from the computer not the odometer itself since they are digital not analogs.

Yeah I didnt know how they work. I think I read that somewhere as why you can’t order one from a dealer yourself. Or I might not have.

I replaced one in a Sentra that I bought for my son a few years ago. Got it from eBay and the guy actually set the odometer to what I requested. Not sure how he was doing that but saved me from getting the dealer involved...
