    Hi there
Could you please help a novice with the following:
I have 2007 Tundra limited. Frame mounts for bumper are damaged. So I would like to weld them a bit.
I have never did welding on any car before. I heard I need to disconnect the battery. Should I do something else? So not to damage car electronics etc...
Sorry having problems with uploading the image. So I just post a link to the mount photo here: https://ibb.co/MBMtzbY

If the mount is removeable I would take it off the truck, weld and then clean and paint or powder coat. If it is part of the hitch system there are like 10 bolts to remove.

The battery disconnect is about it. I steady weld on my truck with battery connected even since I’m lazy. Go for it.

Disconnecting the battery sounds like a good plan.

Other than that, the primary rule when welding on machinery is to not place your ground cable such that the current path will run through any bearings. For example, don't attach your ground to the rear axle housing for welding on the frame. Place the ground cable near where you are actually welding.

Definitely disconnect battery stand back look at what your going to weld and imagine weld spatter so protect what you don’t want burnt or melted

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately that mount is just a small extension of the frame, some time ago this mount per se was welded to the frame )

Are you just repairing the crack from the hole to the edge ? Thats an easy repair and a good one to learn on. Besides what has been recommended, grind it out, clamp it so its flush and tack it, move your clamp and tack again and then weld it out. Make your first tack in the hole. When you're done grind the hole tack with a die grinder and your done.

Unfortunately, the picture does not show the whole problem... And it is worse..
Please see crack from behind of the mount:

An update - just found it in the repair manual:

When using electric welding anywhere on the vehicle, disconnect the center airbag sensor connectors. These connectors contain shorting springs. This feature reduces the possibility of the airbag deploying due to currents entering the squib wiring.
